George RR Martin has still not issued an official release date for the upcoming sixth Game of Thrones book, The Winds of Winter. In the meantime, A Song of Ice and Fire fans have been theorising what is going to happen in the upcoming novel. One of the excerpts from the book revealed Euron Greyjoy was wearing a suit of Valyrian steel armour.
The excerpt from Aeron Greyjoy’s perspective read: “Euron Crow’s Eye stood upon the deck of Silence, clad in a suit of black scale armor like nothing Aeron had ever seen before.
“Dark as smoke it was, but Euron wore it as easily as if it was the thinnest silk. The scales were edged in red gold, and gleamed and shimmered when they moved. Patterns could be seen within the metal, whorls and glyphs and arcane symbols folded into the steel.
“Valyrian steel, the Damphair knew. His armor is Valyrian steel. In all the Seven Kingdoms, no man owned a suit of Valyrian steel.
“Such things had been known 400 years ago, in the days before the Doom, but even then, they would’ve cost a kingdom. Euron did not lie. He has been to Valyria. No wonder he was mad.”
The Winds of Winter will continue the political battle for control over Westeros, but it will also continue the attack being carried out by the Others / White Walkers.
It was previously revealed that The Others could only be killed by fire, obsidian, or Valyrian Steel.
Reddit user Lebigmacca recently theorised that Euron’s armour would become a vital tool in the upcoming onslaught from the White Walkers.
The fan asked: “Do you think Euron’s Valyrian steel armor will be reforged into swords to fight the Others?”

If this were to happen, Euron could arm the greatest warriors in Westeros with weapons that could kill the White Walkers in one blow.
Alternatively, some other fans believed the armour would instead be passed on to a new owner.
One fan mused: “I think Jon or one of the other Northern protagonists will get the armor after Euron is defeated.”

If Jon Snow goes on to ride a dragon in the books just as he did on the HBO show, Game of Thrones, he would also be a good candidate to wear the armour.
Another theorist wrote: “It’s a good armour for a dragon rider, otherwise the rider is at great risk of arrows.”
Whatever happens to the invaluable armour, it will certainly be a crucial part of the upcoming novel because it is currently the biggest deposit of Valyrian steel in the known lands.
Author Martin recently gave a vague update on when he plans to release the much-coveted book on his Not A Blog blog.
Martin wrote: “I wrote hundreds and hundreds of pages of THE WINDS OF WINTER in 2020. The best year I’ve had on WOW since I began it. Why? I don’t know. Maybe the isolation. Or maybe I just got on a roll. Sometimes I do get on a roll.
“I need to keep rolling, though. I still have hundreds of more pages to write to bring the novel to a satisfactory conclusion. That’s what 2021 is for, I hope.
“I will make no predictions on when I will finish. Every time I do, a******s on the internet take that as a ‘promise,’ and then wait eagerly to crucify me when I miss the deadline. All I will say is that I am hopeful.”
