Danni Menzies, 33, has become a well-known face on daytime TV as she presents as part of the Channel 4 classic A Place In The Sun. The presenter has since spoken out on her time filming the show last year as she admitted she felt it was “challenging” having to keep her distance from both the crew and the families looking for their perfect holiday home.

Like many shows over the last year, A Place In The Sun has changed how it is filmed to maintain social distancing for those working on and off-screen.

While chatting to Express.co.uk, Danni spoke out on how she “struggled” as the show changed how it was filmed amid the pandemic.

The star said: “The only thing that I really struggled with, I’m quite a touchy loving person, and if someone cried, I wasn’t allowed to cuddle them, and that was quite challenging.”

Talking of one particular experience with two sisters, Danni opened up on how she and the crew were left in tears.

She explained: “So I had two sisters on the show who were lovely and one of them had really sadly lost her son and she cried in one of the houses.

“It was really difficult not being able to cuddle her because I could feel the emotions inside and I could see it in her eyes. We all stood and cried.

“It was happy tears because she loved the house but that was the only challenging thing.”

Danni went on to admit she had previously received emails from her bosses warning her to maintain social distancing on set.

The star added: “I did get quite a few emails from the bosses saying ‘Danni, don’t touch anyone,’ because I’m always putting my arms around people.”

The 33-year-old was able to film for the show last summer as travel restrictions eased after the first national lockdown.

She was out filming for the show for more than three months announcing she would be returning home in November as the UK entered its second lockdown.

At the time, she took to Instagram as she announced her return to her 67,100 followers.

At the time, many of the presenter’s followers joked Danni should stay filming in comparison to the cold British weather.

One wrote: “If I was you I would carry on as you are, it’s grim over here.”

Another added: “Hope you packed ur thermals lol. Joking its not that cold back home.(sic)”

“Wrap up warm, it’s freezin’ here in Scotland,(sic)” a third said.
