According to The Sun, Adam Peaty, 26, and Katya Jones, 32, were left “in tears” and “shocked” after getting booted off Strictly Come Dancing 2021. The dancing pair found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday night and had to take part in Sunday’s tense dance-off against Tilly Ramsay, 20 and Nikita Kuzmin, 23.
Adam and Katya received 27 points from the judges for their 50s-themed jive.
Now a source claims the pair were “in tears” backstage, before being left “shocked” by their “devastating” elimination.
“Katya was absolutely furious during filming not just because the dance hadn’t gone as well as they hoped but by the low marks they received,” the insider told the aforementioned publication.
“Both Katya and Adam were in tears after a week in which they’d thrown their all into getting the routine right.”
The insider continued: “And though it hadn’t gone perfectly, both of them were shocked at being at the bottom of the scoreboard and finding themselves in the dance-off after the public vote.
“So getting shown the door on Sunday was utterly devastating.”
But despite the reportedly bitter end to the pair’s participation in the competition, fans and fellow contestants made sure they flooded them with messages of support on social media.

“It’s been a privilege to watch your journey… Hold your heads up high and be proud.”
KevinRo07158969 added: “It was very emotional to see you both go but well done to you both for getting so far.
“Adam’s the best swimmer in the world and should be very proud off what he’s achieved in his life.
“No one can get any one near him in the water…”
Strictly 2021 contestant Dan Walker said: “It has been an immense privilege to get to know @adam_peaty on #Strictly.
“He is a champion, a great laugh & a natural leader who, despite being the best in the world at what he does, has the beautiful quality of encouraging those around him to succeed.
“Top bloke. I’ll miss him.”
TheRealDeclanK1 typed: “Really liked him, think he went too early, but he was so gracious. A real role model.”
Following his departure from the hit BBC show, Adam took to Instagram to reflect on his experience.
In view of his 592,000 followers, he penned: “What an experience @bbcstrictly has been. I’m so grateful for my time on this show, from the highs of performing in front of millions and the extreme challenge of learning a new routine within 3 days every week, it’s been incredible.
“I didn’t know how much it meant to me until I got a bit emotional after my dance off; however, I don’t think it was the dancing that pushed me over the edge, but the two years of the constant challenge with myself combined with the energy to win the Olympics and becoming a father at the same time.
“My emotions are one of my strongest attributes and I’m not ashamed to show that I’m human.”
