Alex Jones, who has temporarily stepped down from her hosting duties on The One Show, revealed she endured an emotional day with her family. The pregnant star took to Instagram and opened up about her eldest son.

The Welsh-born presenter, 43, already shares two children with her insurance broker husband Charlie Thomson.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2015, are currently on maternity leave as the proud parents are expecting their third child together.

Taking to the picture-sharing site, Alex admitted she was overcome with emotion after she uploaded a rare picture with her four-year-old son Teddy.

The BBC host could be seen beaming for the picture as she shared some exciting news.

In view of her 301,000 followers, Alex took to her Instagram stories and explained she had been in tears.

She wrote: “It’s gonna be an emotional day. Cried all the tears already!

“Nursery is done. My little boy is growing up so fast.”

The One Show host accompanied the message with a picture of mum and son as he sported his graduation outfit.

Alex is also a mum to her youngest son Kit, two, and earlier this year, the presenter announced she is having a third child.

She addressed the pregnancy news on the BBC programme to thank everyone for their well wishes.

Alex said: “Before we start, I have to say a huge, huge thank you for all the lovely messages you sent on our Instagram our email last night after the news.

“If you missed it, we’re having a baby! But thank you, honestly, I’ve been overwhelmed and I’ve read all your messages.”

It comes after Alex previously addressed her baby plans and said that she and her other half decided to not have any more children.

Speaking to HELLO! magazine, she said: “Charlie is adamant that for the sake of the planet, two children is enough.

“And I think I’m too old to have another child now, anyway.

“It happens for a lot of people and good for them, but we’re just glad we have two healthy children.”

But the couple changed their mind as they eagerly await the arrival of their third bundle of joy.

Alex’s husband Charlie was born in New Zealand before later moving to the UK.

They first met in 2011 when they attended the same party and got engaged four years later.

In the same year as their engagement, Alex and Charlie tied the knot.

The One Show airs weekdays on BBC One at 7pm.
