Duchess Meghan “Is Voting in This Election” After Returning to the United States

Now that voting is well underway, it’s been revealed that the Duchess of Sussex is heading to the polls too.

A source close to Meghan tells BAZAAR.com that “the Duchess is voting in this election.” Though there’s no confirmation on who Meghan will be voting for, the duchess has made her politics extremely clear since stepping down as a senior member of the royal family.

In August, the duchess teamed up with Gloria Steinem for a discussion about feminism and voting. In the video, which was produced by MAKERS Women, Steinem said, “Meg, welcome home. I’m so glad that you’re home.” The duchess replied, “Me too, for so many reasons.”

Meghan explained, “People forget how hard women like you and so many others before you fought for us to just be where we are right now.”

During an interview with reporter Zuri Hall from Access Hollywood, Steinem revealed, “Meg is herself, smart, authentic, funny, political. She came home to vote. And the first thing we did and why she came to see me was we sat at the dining room table here—where I am right now—and cold-called voters. And said, ‘Hello, I’m Meg,’ and, ‘Hello, I’m Gloria,’ and, ‘Are you going to vote?’ That was her initiative.”

The duchess has also consistently campaigned to expunge hate, both online and off. During the recent TIME100 TV special, Meghan said of TIME100’s transformative leaders, “You’re playing a critical role for our future and that of our children. Seeing our world through the lens of community is so important. Because we need to redraw the lines of how we engage with each other, both online and off. What we’re exposed to online seeps into how we engage with each other offline. It can train us to be kind, or it can train us to be cruel.”
