Emilia Clarke went through secret break up and start of Game Of Thrones fame
Emilia Clarke says her unlucky run in the love stakes started when she was still at drama school.
Just as she was on the brink of global fame in Game of Thrones, Emilia was secretly nursing a ‘rubbish’ break-up.
She had just left the Central Saint Martins Drama Centre in London when she was cast as TV’s dragon queen in 2010.
‘There’s a very important boy who I was with for quite a long time,’ admitted Emilia, 33. ‘When we parted ways, it was just rubbish as most of those early heartbreaks are. I really felt it.’
Despite more false starts, with US actor Seth MacFarlane and director Charlie McDowell — they broke up last year — she has been trying love again this summer.
Emilia, who was spotted in the Italian resort of Positano with assistant director Tom Turner, admits the heartache of her mystery beau is always just under the skin, and one particular song sets her right off.
She says little-known track Take Care, by Baltimore duo Beach House, is her heartbreak hit about the one that got away. ‘It’s a song from my drama school years,’ she said.
‘My last year at drama school and coming up to adulthood that time. This band are so beautiful you can pick any of their albums and have a field day, but the album this comes from is my favourite. It’s a break-up song for me.’
Last year, Emilia revealed that in the same year as her Game Of Thrones breakthrough she suffered the first of two near-fatal aneurysms.
