Helen Skelton’s co-star warns she’s ‘dodgy to work with’ as she joins Strictly

Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton's Summer On The Farm co-star Martin Hughes-Games has warned she's "dodgy to work with" ahead of her appearance on the show.

Countryfile presenter Helen, 39, who was confirmed as the 15th and final star of this year's line-up this weekend, joins the likes of Fleur East and EastEnders star James Bye on the glitzy BBC1 series.

Ahead of her debut, her co-presenter and pal Martin has warned she has a tendency to say "naughty things" on screen.

Speaking to The Sun, he joked: "Helen's a bit dodgy to work with."

"She's a safe pair of hands but has to be reined in a bit because she has a tendency to be a bit wild."

He added: "We have someone from Channel 5 compliance, on set in South Yorkshire, who tells her that she mustn't say too many naughty things.

"Although of course there's always the chance that she might."

Helen has joined the show just months after separating from husband Richie Myler back in April.

The couple had been married for nearly a decade before the shock split just four months after she gave birth to their third child, daughter Elsie Kate.

Richie has since gone public with his new girlfriend, Stephanie Thirkill, sharing several loved-up snaps on social media.

Alongside Elsie-Kate, the couple also share son Ernie, seven, and daughter Louise, five.

Helen announced she was joining the Strictly line-up on Claudia Winkleman's Radio 2 show, revealing she only signed up for the show recently.

However, she said she couldn't wait to "get stuck into a fun adventure", explaining: "My family and friends have always loved the show and can't wait for me to get started."

She added: "Who gets to go to work and made to look a bit like Beyoncé and have a fun time?

"So, I just thought, this is madness to not do it, of course I should do it. It'll be so much fun."

Ahead of the announcement, a source told The Sun it was the perfect way for Helen to "bounce back" from her marriage split.

"Most people are absolutely desperate to avoid the Strictly curse but Helen would love it to give her some confidence back," they said.

They added: "She's a great signing for the show and enormously popular with viewers, especially after what has happened to her lately.

"Everyone on the inside thinks she could end up going a very long way."

Fans have been divided over this year's Strictly line-up, which also includes actor Will Mellor, Loose Women presenter Kaye Adams, and former Coronation Street star Kym Marsh.

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts, with many on the negative side. One wrote: "No wow factor with this lot but thats par for the course and by week 3 everyone will be shouting for a b or c".

Another tweeted: "I'll not bother this year", whilst someone else said: "I feel like the producers sometimes just go to the BBC canteen and force anyone who doesn't run away fast enough to do strictly."
