Holly Willoughby spoke candidly about her personal life in a new interview yesterday, following the release of her book, Reflections. The This Morning presenter explained that when she first began to meditate she experienced an adverse effect.

The 40-year-old opened up about dealing with her anger on The Chris Evans Virgin Radio Breakfast Show this week.

Speaking to host Sam Pinkham, Holly shared her husband Dan Baldwin’s thoughts on her latest practice.

Speaking about meditation, Sam said: “You also speak about celebrating anger and anger being a very positive thing to experience. And that it can be cleansing.”

Holly replied: “I love anger. I never used to.”

Sam interjected: “I would never think that Holly would say that she loves anger.

“I would have never have expected it.”

Holly chuckled: “Basically, once I started to focus inwardly, I thought, ‘This isn’t working. I’m not getting better.’ I was getting angry about everything.

“My husband said, ‘You need to back away from the meditation for a while because you are one angry woman right now.'”

The ITV favourite didn’t go into any details on where the anger had stemmed from but the presenter admitted everything had been getting to her.

Holly agreed with her other half about the sudden onset of her anger.

“I realised I was experiencing strong emotions,” she continued. “I was living in this safe middle ground, bubbling along with the land of nice.

“But I was feeling these strong emotions for the first time.”

She added: “What’s brilliant about anger is if you look at it the right way.

“Say something triggers you and you get really angry about something. If you then sit back and go, ‘Right, what was behind that? Why was I feeling angry?’

“Was it coming from a place of insecurity, or fear?”

Holly went on: “Sometimes I find myself thinking, I sit with my friends talking about thoughts and feelings all of the time.

“Then suddenly in this sharp flash of anger, I got to the root of what was really going on. It was a powerful way of finding out what was behind my feelings.”

Holly tied the knot with TV producer Dan in 2007 and the couple share three children together, Harry, 12, Belle, 10, and Chester, seven.

The couple celebrated their 14-year anniversary in August, and the presenter recently gushed over her beau.

“We’re very honest with each other, we listen to each other,” she said on This Morning.

“I love him and he loves me. We respect each other and we probably drive each other around the twist.

“But we give each other space for that as well.”
