She’s made no secret of her son Harvey’s struggles, and last week Katie Price showed fans her true reality when she shared a video of the aftermath of him smashing her car window after suffering a bout of hiccups.

The mum-of-five, who revealed she has had a secret 12th boob job, added the caption: “Welcome to my bank holiday Monday, a normal day off Harvey’s reaction to hip cups.”

Fans praised Katie – who also has Junior, 15, and Princess, 13, with first husband Peter Andre, and Jett, seven, and Bunny, six, with third husband Kieran Hayler – for her bravery.

One wrote: “Bless you Katie you could hear how shaken you were in your voice,” while another added: “This is obviously what Katie has to endure throughout her daily life.”

“Katie has never wanted to paint her life with Harvey as perfect,” a source told new magazine. “The reality of living with a disabled child is tricky and challenging. But she loves Harvey to death. He is her first-born and she adores spending time with him.

“His outbursts are thankfully a rare occurrence but they are unpredictable. Obviously, Katie wishes she could control them. It is a struggle for her as she doesn’t always know what might set him off. She never ever wants him to hurt himself. It’s so hard to watch him suffer.”

Harvey, 18, has been diagnosed with Septo-optic Dysplasia, a rare genetic disorder affecting his eyesight, as well as autism and Prader-Willi syndrome, which can cause learning difficulties and behavioural problems.

Katie has said that Harvey can be easily overwhelmed in social situations and loud noises can trigger sudden reactions, such as an urge to hit his head or punch walls.

But sources say that she hates it when he struggles in public as she fears people will judge him unfairly.

“Harvey is so gentle and most of the time is a funny, kind and caring young man,” our source added.

“He’s such a joy to be around. That’s the side of Harvey that Katie wants people to see more of. When he struggles in public, she can feel the judgmental eyes on him. She hates to think of people getting the wrong idea about Harvey.

"The truth is he’s never hurt anyone else and he’d never mean to if he did. She’s always said people can say what they want about her but when they attack Harvey or say negative things, it really hurts her.”

Days after the car incident, Katie shared an adorable video of Harvey tickling his sister Bunny. She captioned it: “I love how @officialmrharveyprice and my gorgeous Bunny bops play so cute.”

new's source said: “Harvey is a really doting brother. Understandably Bunny and Jett have been a little frightened in the past when something has triggered an outburst but they know to stay away. Most of the time they get on so well and love being around him.”

Katie, 42, was praised for her patience and close relationship with Harvey following her recent documentary Katie Price: Harvey And Me. Viewers saw them explore the next chapter of his life as they looked at residential colleges for him to attend.

Sources recently revealed to new that Katie was having a hard time with the idea of being away from her son after he showed interest in a college hundreds of miles away.

“Katie knows she has to do what’s best for Harvey,” the source added.

“But she is still emotional at the idea of being far away from him.

"She knows he’ll always be in the best hands but she’s his mum and when he’s upset, she wants to be the one to calm him down and cuddle him. He’ll always be her baby.”
