Will Smith gets candid about non-monogamous marriage to Jada Pinkett Smith

Will Smith is shedding new light on his marriage to Jada Pinkett Smith — including a confirmation that like Jada, he’s had sex outside of the marriage. The admission comes ahead of the publication of Will’s first memoir, due out in November, and one year after Jada confirmed she had an “entanglement” with singer August Alsina, who went public with claims he was dating Jada before she confirmed that they were involved during a break in her relationship with Will. “Jada never believed in conventional marriage,” Will explains in GQ’s November 2021 cover story while discussing the memoir’s storyline about their marital challenges. “Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship. So she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up. There were significant endless discussions about, what is relational perfection? … And for the large part of our relationship, monogamy was what we chose, not thinking of monogamy as the only relational perfection. We have given each other trust and freedom, with the belief that everybody has to find their own way. And marriage for us can’t be a prison,” he continues. “And I don’t suggest our road for anybody … But the experiences that the freedoms that we’ve given one another and the unconditional support, to me, is the highest definition of love.” He doesn’t elaborate but as GQ’s writer puts it, the “Red Table Talk” where Jada discussed her relationship with August could have left a viewer “thinking that Jada was the only one engaging in other sexual relationships, when that was not, [Will] delicately explained to me, in fact the case.”

Angelina Jolie steps out with The Weeknd again, fueling more dating rumors

Third time’s a charm? Angelina Jolie and The Weeknd were spotted together again on Sept. 25, reigniting romance rumors that first popped up back in June. Angelina, 46, has said in interviews over the past year that she’s not interested in dating right now, leaving some to suggest the pair’s first joint dining excursion at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, Calif., was a business dinner rather than a date. “They’re clearly not trying to hide …,” a source told Page Six at the time, adding that The Weeknd was “focused on getting to the movie business” after his HBO series, “The Idol” got a green light. When the actress, writer and director was spotted at the same concert as the “Starboy” singer later in the summer, however, that “business meeting” theory suddenly seemed a bit off. For what appeared to be their third public outing over the weekend, the two entered the restaurant separately, but were photographed leaving together, according to the Daily Mail. Reps for the stars have not commented.

R. Kelly convicted on all counts in Brooklyn

Singer R. Kelly could face life in prison after a jury in Brooklyn, New York, found him guilty on all nine sex trafficking and racketeering counts against him on Sept. 27. The R&B star’s six-week trial featured “graphic testimony” from women who described enduring the singer’s alleged sexual and physical abuse, coercion and more, in some cases when they were underage, according to the New York Times. Following news of the verdict, Dream Hampton, who executive produced the “Surviving R. Kelly” Lifetime documentary that helped catapult a pileup of accusations about the star into the spotlight, tweeted that she was, “Grateful to the survivors. The ones who talked and the ones who didn’t.” Protesters outside the federal courthouse, meanwhile, angrily reacted to the verdict by slamming it as “biased,” the Times reported. The sentencing is scheduled for May 4.

Lena Dunham met her new husband on a blind date

Lena Dunham and her now husband, Peruvian-English musician Attawalpa (real name: Luis Felber), surprised fans over the weekend with news of their Sept. 25 wedding. But from what Luis told the New York Times in an interview in early September, the couple’s fast track wedding was par for the course in their relationship, which began with a walkabout date in Central London earlier this year. “It was a blind date. A mutual friend of ours basically set us up. The first time we hung out, we didn’t stop talking for, like, eight hours,” Luis, 35, told the Times, later admitting he’s still never seen her signature HBO series, “Girls.” Luis also agreed when the reporter suggested their relationship got “really intense really quickly. “I think when you know, you know,” he said. “I’ve only been alive for 35 years in this lifetime, and I think it’s another archaic thing for guys to hide their feelings. I’m way more into the flow of getting to know the person. And I think Lena’s the same, and I think — I’m going to sound cheesy — but when you find your soul mate, you just know.” Contacted again by the paper this week amid news of the pair’s nuptials, Luis was asked when he knew he wanted to marry the “Girls” creator. “There were lots of moments, there are lots of moments and there will be lots of moments,” he replied. “I’m not living in a Disney film where you’re certain about who you want to spend the rest of your life with in one moment. Time is fluid and when you know, you know. I love my wife, who is also my best friend.”

Amy Schumer’s ‘feeling stronger’ after having uterus, appendix removed

Amy Schumer is full of energy — and she can’t wait to share it with her 2-year-old son, Gene. The comic shared a health update on Instagram on Sept. 26 after having both her appendix and uterus removed for reasons stemming from her extensive endometriosis condition. Wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the words “RECOVERY MODE ON,” she wrote in the caption that she’s “feeling stronger and thrilled about life.” Amy, 40, also shared audio from her post-op meeting with her surgeon, who told her he’d removed 26 endometriosis specimens from her body during the surgery. “I cry through most of the findings. I had a tumor in my endo ravaged appendix. Chocolate cysts in both ovaries. Endo of the uterus, [polycystic ovary syndrome] all over,” she continued, saying it was as if all her “all my lifelong pain” had been “explained and lifted out of my body.” Amy added: “I am already a changed person. I am busting with joy for the new energy I have to be with my son.” Before signing off, she noted that she believes the endometriosis is connected to the hyperemesis gravidarum she had while pregnant. The latter causes extreme nausea and vomiting, but as Amy pointed out, little to no research has been done regarding its potential connection to endometriosis because of thehistoric lack in funding for women’s health research. “THERE IS BARELY ANY RESEARCH ON ENDOMETRIOSIS WHICH OVER 10 percent of women have,” Amy wrote, adding, “ALL FUNDING SEEMS TO GO TO D—MEREGENCIES.”
