The Loki finale aired this past Wednesday and it was epic. (No major spoilers are in this post.) The finale is a definite lead in to Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, which is slated for 2022. Plus it introduced one of the major villains in the MCU cannon. The series completed Loki’s evolutionary arc from a trickster god/villain to a possible hero. The finale also announced that there will be a season two. This announcement was a final screen at the end of the credits of the finale episode. A second season announcement for Loki is as out of the box as Loki himself. The other two series Marvel Disney Plus series, WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, were created as limited series. Below are a few more details about the announcement from Variety:

At the 42 minutes and 48 seconds mark of the episode, it says simply: “Loki will return in season 2.”

No further details were provided regarding the next season of the series that stars Tom Hiddleston as the titular character.

“Loki” is the third series from the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney Plus. The first was the acclaimed “WandaVision,” starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, which earned 23 Emmy nominations on Tuesday.

The season 1 finale of “Loki” leads into Sam Raimi’s film “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” which is due on March 25, 2022.

Upcoming Marvel series on Disney Plus include the animated “What If…,” due in August, and “Hawkeye,” which will stream toward the end of the year. Yelena Belova, the character played by Florence Pugh in current hit movie “Black Widow,” will be seen in “Hawkeye,” which stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld and Vera Farmiga.

Like I said in my previous post, I really loved the Loki series. I am biased because Loki is one of my favorite characters in the MCU. I love how they flushed out his character and how he matured. Loki will be a hero and I am here for it. The season finale wasn’t a big bang but there was some great acting from a particular character and I cannot wait to see where the MCU takes him. I am also looking forward to seeing more Alligator and Classic Lokis in the future hopefully. I was definitely excited to see the announcement at the end of the season finale about season two. In fact, I thought the MCU was playing a trick on us all. I mean it is a very Loki thing to do. I am looking forward to What If? and Hawkeye despite not being a fan of Hawkeye or Jeremy Renner. I am actually excited about Yelena, played by Florence Pugh. Florence did such an exceptional job in Black Widow. I am excited for season two of Loki and I am wondering if it will be a long-term series or just the two seasons.
