Former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan, 55, has hit back at celebrities who criticised him following his comments about Meghan Markle and his subsequent departure from the ITV breakfast show. Taking to Twitter, Piers issued the bold statement in view of his 7.8million followers.

I’m watching, and I will retaliate

Piers simply tweeted: “Memo to all high-profile, insufferably woke, unctuously virtue-signalling, shamefully race-baiting hypocrites: I’m watching, and I will retaliate.”

So far, the tweet has gained over 20,000 likes.

The former newspaper editor’s fans were quick to weigh in on the remark in the comments section.

Referencing Piers’ departure from GMB, one wrote: “You are missed Piers. Who will tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth now?”

Another asked him: “Would you ever consider going back to good morning Britain?”

A third penned: “I didn’t like the guy. However, Piers is one of the very few who publicly call Markle out. Like it or not she needs to provide evidence for her claims.”

Earlier in the evening Piers had hinted at hitting back at celebrities who had slammed his views on the Duchess of Sussex’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The TV personality responded to a fan who saw that the broadcaster was finally getting a chance to catch up with his tweets from a week ago.

A social media user wrote: “@piersmorgan is going through some celebs tweets at him from last week and I am screaming #shotsfired.”(sic)

Piers immediately responded: “I never miss a thing.

“And revenge is always a dish best tasted cold.”

Following the airing of Oprah with Meghan and Harry last week, Piers faced backlash after airing his controversial opinions on the topic on social media.

Taking to Twitter, the broadcaster revealed that he didn’t believe Meghan’s claims that she felt suicidal while pregnant with her and Prince Harry’s son Archie.

Following his decision to leave GMB, Piers later returned to Twitter to clarify his argument.

He wrote: “On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. If you did, OK.

“Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions.”

Yesterday, US breakfast show host Gayle King revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been in contact with the royal family for the first time after the airing of the interview.

Following the revelation, Piers hit out at the couple accusing them of “betraying” their family.

He penned: “How ‘productive’ does Ms King think those conversations will be going forward, now her Sussex chums have betrayed Harry’s family – again – in such shamelessly disloyal fashion?”

The conversations came following the couple’s tell-all interview with US talk show host Oprah, which aired last Monday night on ITV.
