Prince William and Kate Middleton Are Officially YouTubers Now

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are headed to YouTube.

Today, Prince William and Duchess Kate announced the launch of their official YouTube channel, a snazzy new approach the Cambridges are apparently taking in modernizing their social media presence. Making their big announcement with a teaser trailer highlighting some of their recent royal engagements, the pair open the video with an off-the-cuff conversation.

“Be careful what you say now because these guys, they’re filming everything,” William quips to his wife. Kate nervously laughs in response before saying, “I know!”

The two shared the news of their YouTube debut on Instagram as well. “Better late than never – we’re now on @YouTube 🎥,” the royal couple wrote in the caption.

The Cambridges’ YouTube venture isn’t the only social media change they’ve made, however; the couple also changed their Instagram handle. What was once known as @kensingtonroyal is now aptly named @dukeandduchessofcambridge.

It’s unclear what type of content royal fans should expect from Prince William and Duchess Kate on their new channel, but as their welcome video suggests, it will most likely be a more in-depth look at their royal work together. For much of the last year, the Cambridges worked from home amid the COVID-19 pandemic (and partook in quite a few video conferences), but the pair have slowly and cautiously returned to in-person engagements—which, based on their revamped social presence, we’re sure to see more of.
