Wearing a smart beige short-sleeved shirt, he told viewers: "You may have read that it's been an incredible hard week for me as I lost my best friend and was completely devastated.

"His family, his friends, me, my family – my mum and dad know him very well – and I really want to make sure that I use this time right now to be able to say that if you are struggling then please know that you can reach out, there is always someone that you can talk to, your family, your friends, colleagues or anyone."

Roman, who recently displayed his tribute tattoo to his pal, added: "Anyone from the support charities that are out there and at ITV there's the mental wellness initiative called Britain Get Talking which encourages all of us to reach out and talk to someone."

On Monday, 16 August, Roman broke down in tears as he announced the death of Capital Breakfast produce Joe.

He described Joe, who had worked at media company Global for nine years, as his “best friend” as he told listeners of the tragedy.

“We wanted to share some really sad news. I never thought I’d have to do this ever,” Roman said through tears.
