Our Farm in the Dales continued on More4 tonight with the latest episode of Matt Baker’s farming show. The new episode saw him progress in his bid to renovate his father’s old car, as he became emotional after the latest update.

Matt’s new show follows him and his family as they move back to his parent’s farm.

They did this last year after his mother sustained an injury, which left farming almost impossible.

Matt and his wife Nicola have been working to renovate the farm and make it more accessible for his parents.

However, the Countryfile presenter has also undertaken several sweet gestures for his parents.

Viewers were able to see the latest of these in the third episode on More4 this evening.

This saw Matt working to restore his father’s much-loved car, which hadn’t run in many years.

Speaking in a voiceover, he said: “It would mean the world if it could be saved, but I’m not holding out much hope.”

He took it to the mechanics who managed to work their magic and bring it back to life.

When Matt popped around to see the progress, he was floored by what they’d achieved.

As the car was revved to life, the presenter choked up and said: “I tell you what, that takes me back.

“Even that engine, that’s just hit me in the heart, that has.”

He went on to explain how the noise was the sound of his childhood as he shared his shock to see the vehicle working again.

Viewers have not yet been able to see his father’s reaction to his hard work, but this was teased for next week.

Matt also opened up about feeling “emotional” about how his dad is going to react.

He said: “What’s making me feel more emotional is knowing what this is going to mean to me dad.

“We waved off the car from the top of the farm and I think he thought to himself, ‘Chances are that’s not coming back.’

“And he’s beaten himself up for a long time about the condition that it’s in.

“I think he’ll be delighted to hear she’s doing everything in her power to get back onto the road.”

This wasn’t the only thing the farmer did for his parents in the latest episode as he also started an orchard.

He did this in acknowledgement of his father’s love of trees in another moving moment.

Our Farm in the Dales airs on More4 on Wednesdays at 9pm.
