Who is Nicole Curran? What to know about Warriors owner Joe Lacob’s wife

Nicole Curran may not be a household name, but the Beyhive is certainly aware of her now.

During Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night at Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif., Curran and husband Joseph S. Lacob, Golden State’s majority owner, sat courtside next to Beyoncé, 37, and husband Jay-Z, 49, as the Warriors lost to the Toronto Raptors, 123-109. Curran was photographed leaning close to Beyoncé to speak with Jay, which may or may not have annoyed the superstar singer in the process.

Judging by memes currently making the rounds on social media, the latter is a possibility.

Curran has since spoken out amid the response, posting a screenshot from the game captioned, “We should all help and support each other.” As of Thursday afternoon, her Instagram is set to private.

With Game 4 scheduled for Friday night at Oracle Arena, it remains to be seen if Lacob’s other half will be present.

Curran, president of the board for the Warriors’ Community Foundation, which “supports the education and youth development to promote thriving students, schools and communities,” according to the organization’s website, holds the foundation close to her heart.

“There are many, many guardian angels up there looking after me,” Curran said, according to the Mercury News. “I think that kind of reinforced my belief that with one single act you can make such a difference in someone’s life. You have to have somebody who believes in you and tells you that you can be different.”

Curran was sent to the Milton Hershey School in Pennsylvania, which is dedicated to students from “income-eligible families,” at the age of 13 by her parents, who divorced when she was just 4 and had struggled to support her. Reunited with her mother two years later, Curran worked to provide for herself, taking jobs at an ice cream shop, as well as modeling. She received a full scholarship to George Washington University, courtesy of an unknown benefactor.

She worked as a teacher and later for the luxury goods company LVMH.

In 2006, Curran reportedly met Lacob at a Pebble Beach golf tournament. According to Lacob himself, “what you see is what you get” with Curran.

“She is very direct. No hidden agendas. She is tough. She can be pretty volatile. But she is outgoing naturally. She’s got a million friends. Always ready to go to a party, go to an event. Me you have to drag,” Lacob said, per the Mercury News.

Curran and Lacob got engaged in 2009, according to Modern Luxury. It is unclear when they tied the knot.
