BTS member Jin unveils dramatic transformation as he prepares to join military

BTS member Jin has unveiled his dramatic hair transformation as he prepares to enlist in the South Korea military.

In South Korea, all able-bodied men must serve 18 to 21 months in the military by law and while there can be exemptions, it seems even one of the biggest K-Pop idols on the planet didn't want the rules changed for him.

It was recently announced that Jin, 30, would be heading off to enlist in the military, and he's now revealed his new look.

Those heading off to serve have to shave their heads before they arrive, and Jin shared a selfie on fan social media site Weverse with his cropped look.

He captioned it: "It looks cuter than I thought."

And, of course, his fans – known as ARMY – agreed.

One said: "They say people's looks are influenced by their hair, but Jin's just all up to his face itself. He looks handsome even with that hair."

Another said: "Is his face for real? His 'world class' title didn't just come out of nowhere."

A third laughed: "Jin f***ing can't take selfies but his face is so handsome that angles aren't needed. His face just does it all."

It is expected that Jin will return to life as a K-Pop idol in 2025 after he finishes up his military service.

Earlier this year, BTS's label BigHit Music confirmed that the members would be enlisting, despite rumours that they would have a special exemption due to their global power in the music industry.

In a statement, the entertainment company said the group – which also includes RM, Jimin, J-Hope, Suga, V and Jungkook – were "honoured to serve".

The news came after it was announced that the seven-member group would be going on hiatus after more than 10 years together – though would be continuing with their solo plans.

Recently, soloist Wonho, who performed in London earlier this year, enlisted as a public service worker.
