Elvis Presley lived at Graceland for 20 years and left the property and its contents to his only daughter Lisa Marie. Since 1982 the mansion has been open for tours, but there have been long-standing rumours over the years that one day Graceland will be sold. Well, during an interview a few years ago, The King’s daughter gave her answer.

Lisa Marie Presley told USA Today: “Sometimes there are rumours about [Graceland] being sold.

“And that is NEVER going to happen. There’s always a rumour. It is NOT getting sold.

“Graceland was given to me and will always be mine. And then passed to my children. It will never be sold.”

The King’s daughter has three daughters in Riley Keough and twins Finley and Harper Lockwood.

While Lisa’s only son Benjamin Keough tragically died by suicide at the age of 27 last July.

He is now buried in the Meditation Garden at Graceland alongside his grandfather Elvis, great-grandparents Vernon and Gladys and great-great-grandmother Minnie Mae Presley.

While the Memphis mansion is open for tours, Lisa Marie very much still sees the property as her home.

The upstairs, to which she has access, remains off-limits to the public and is perfectly preserved just as Elvis left it in 1977.

On using Graceland today, Lisa Marie told USA Today: “It’s a very special place…it shuts down quite nice at night.

“I have family that I love very much who live there in Memphis. When I go… I visit [Graceland]. We have dinner there. My family still goes there, and we still have a life there.”

Lisa has had Thanksgiving in Graceland’s dining room, where she uses her own china that is kept in a chest of drawers in Aunt Delta’s room by the kitchen.

An extra table is brought out to add to the end of the main one for her family and guests to have meals.

During an Instagram live Q&A video through Graceland last year, on-site archivist Angie Marchese spoke of Lisa Marie and her family visits.

She said: “Yes, the family does still visit Graceland quite often. One of Lisa’s favourite things to do here is to actually share with her kids and her friends her memories of Graceland.

“And do things that Elvis and her used to do like ride golf carts or see the horses and things like that. But they do come quite often. This is still her home.”
