Richard Buckley has died at the age of 72 on Sunday night.
The fashion journalist, who was married to designer Tom Ford, 60, passed away at their family home in Los Angeles.
After 35 years of marriage, Richard, who underwent surgery for throat cancer in 1989, passed away of "natural causes."
The sad news was confirmed by Ford's team who released a statement the following day.
It read: "It is with great sadness that Tom Ford announces the death of his beloved husband of 35 years, Richard Buckley.
"Richard passed away peacefully at their home in Los Angeles with Tom and their son Jack by his side."
The happy couple first met at a fashion show in 1986 and sparks flew between them as they started dating soon after.
After 28 years together, the pair finally decided to tie the knot in 2014 soon after same sex marriage was legalised in the United States.
In 2016, Tom told People magazine the exact moment that he fell in love with his husband.
During an appearance on The Jess Cagle Interview, he admitted: "Our eyes locked and within a month we were living together. We have been together ever since."
As he reminisced about the emotional moment, he explained he could "vividly" remember the first time he met his husband.
The pair first bumped into each other in a lift, but by the end of the ride together Ford said he knew he would spend the rest of his life head over heels in love with Buckley.
He added: "By the time that elevator landed on the ground floor I thought, 'You're the one.' That's it. Click. Sold.
"It was literally love at first sight."
Richard was a fashion journalist and worked for publications like New York Magazine, Women's Wear Daily Vanity Fair, Italian Vogue and Vogue Hommes International where the award-winning journalist served as editor in chief.
The star was last pictured at the Met Gala last Monday, as the star was pictured alongside Billie Eilish, Anna Wintour, Timothée Chalamet, and Naomi Osaka.
And after his sudden death, the tributes have began to pour in for the legendary writer online.
