Leigh-Anne Pinnock unfollows Nicki Minaj on Instagram after ‘clown’ swipe

Leigh-Anne Pillock has unfollowed Nicki Minaj on Instagram as the row over Jesy Nelson supposedly “blackfishing” intensifies.

Estranged band member Jesy has been accused of “blackfishing” in her recent single Boyz, because of her deep tan and her hair, and collaborator Nicki was quick to wade in and defend the singer.

Blackfishing refers to someone who changes their appearance to appear black and Jesy, 30, has also been accused of trying to capitalise on black culture for financial gain.

However, she has vehemently denied this claim and has always insisted that she never intended to offend anyone and that that is the type of music she has always listened to.

Jesy also commented that her tan was due to having been in Antigua and added: “These are the videos that I watched and thought were the best.

"For me personally, 90s/2000 hip-hop, R&B music was the best era of music. I just wanted to celebrate that. I just wanted to celebrate that era of music because it is what I love.”

Leigh-Anne is believed to have sent Jesy some messages saying she was upset about the “blackfishing”, which were then leaked by an influencer.

Nicki, 38, jumped to Jesy defence and said during an Instagram live: "Immediately that person has to wear a big red clown nose and big clown boots because you're a big f**ing clown.

"Sweetheart take them text messages and shove it up ur f**king a**, because when you do clown s**t I gotta treat you and talk to you like you're a clown."

Nicki continued: "It screams insecurity, it screams that you're jealous, only jealous people do things like this and now you just look like a big jealous bozo."

Since then, Leigh-Anne unfollowed the Anaconda rapper.

Nicki also attacked little Mis for picking on Jesy when they know she has suffered from mental health problems due to bullying.

Meanwhile, it appears singer Anne Marie has also unfollowed Jesy and is “loyal to Little Mix” who she has collaborated with in the past. The Sun also claim that Paloma Faith and MNEK are both team Little Mix.

Further defending herself, Jesy, from Romford in east London, said: “I’m very aware that I'm a white British woman; I've never said that I wasn't.

"But I mean, like, I love Black culture. I love Black music. That's all I know. it's what I grew up on."
