Love Island’s Dani Dyer named newborn baby Santiago to honour family heritage

First-time mum Dani Dyer has named her newborn son Santiago and there is a heartwarming family reason behind the beautiful name.

The 24-year-old media personality, who first shot to fame on Love Island in 2018, welcomed her son into the world on Saturday with boyfriend Sammy Kimmence.

Some fans thought Dani would name the little one after her EastEnders star father, Danny Dyer.

Dani announced she had given birth on Sunday before revealed their little one's adorable name.

She said they named the baby Santiago and will call him 'Santi' for short.

The name is Spanish and means 'Saint James' – the patron saint of Spain.

It seems the fabulous name pays tribute to Dani's mother, Joanna Mas, and her Spanish heritage.

Dani's grandfather, who she calls 'Bruv', is from Majorca.

Santiago is also the capital of Chile and is the South American countries largest city.

During her podcast alongside her dad, Sorted With The Dyers, Dani spoke about her newborn son's special name.

After soap star Danny announced that he was a grandfather, Dani said: "I honestly can’t believe it, he’s finally here, our little boy. I never thought I’d meet him. I felt like it was going on and on.

"But me and Sammy are so in love with him. He’s just so perfect and the feeling is just incredible, I can’t put into words how it feels.

"I know you’re all probably wondering what we’ve called him. There’s been a lot of assumptions going on, some are actually really funny to be fair, but his name is Santiago."

She added: "I know a lot of you are probably thinking ‘What?!’ but that is his name but we are going to be calling him Santi.

"I think it sounds nice on the birth certificate."
