Michael Jackson had many siblings, with his family becoming a music dynasty. As a result, it makes sense he would want his daughter, Paris, to have siblings to collaborate with as she enters the music world. However, Paris is in fact his middle child, meaning other children were on his mind.
How many biological sons does Michael Jackson have?
Michael Jackson had two sons and a daughter before his death in 2009.
Michael married Debbie Rowe, a dermatology nurse, while he was on tour in Sydney, Australia on November 13, 1996.
She was six months pregnant with his first child at the time, according to J Randy Taraborrelli’s book, Michael Jackson: The Magic The Madness, The Whole Story.
The pair had their first child very quickly, with Debbie giving birth to Michael Joseph Jackson Jr, who is commonly known as Prince and was born on February 13, 1997.
The pair also had a second child Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, who was born on April 3, 1998.
After this, they divorced in 1999, but the star had full custody of the children.
On February 21, 2002, he had a third child, Prince Michael II, known as Blanket.
Blanket became known as such due to being covered in a blanket during many public appearances when he was a baby.
This became even more prominent in the media when Michael held the baby over the railings of the balcony of a hotel room in Berlin, four stories above ground.
Though Blanket earned this nickname, his children were similarly covered with blankets and other items to shield them from the press.
Blanket was originally said to have been conceived by an anonymous surrogate, with his father telling Martin Bashir in 2003 documentary Living with Michael Jackson: “We have an agreement that we can’t talk about.
“We have a contractual agreement, who she is and everything, that’s how we worked that out.”
However, despite confirming he had a relationship with the mother, he then completely changed his story, later telling the same journalist: “I used a surrogate mom, my own sperm cells. She doesn’t know me, I don’t know her.”
Despite these mixed messages from Michael himself, The Mirror claimed to have uncovered Blanket’s surrogate’s real name: Helena.
According to The Mirror, she was reportedly a Mexican nurse who was paid a £15,600 ($20,000) surrogacy fee.
Strangely, there can be some confusion between Prince, Michael’s eldest son, and his younger half-brother Blanket.
Prince was born Michael Jr, while his younger brother Blanket was born Prince Jackson.
However, the eldest child goes by Prince, while the younger, now a teenager, goes as Bigi after reportedly getting bullied for his nickname of Blanket.
In terms of their work, in 2013, Prince served as a guest correspondent for Entertainment Tonight, telling fans: “I’m looking to become well-rounded as a producer, director, screenwriter and actor.”
He spoke further about this in an interview with LA Times, but was recently seen graduating from Loyola Marymount University in May 2019 with a BA in Business Administration.
He has also worked with his sister Paris and put together her debut music video, while he also followed in the footsteps of his father and launched a charity, Heal Los Angeles.
As for Bigi, he along with Prince and their cousin Taj has posted film and TV reviews on YouTube on their channel Film Family.
He has only just turned 18-years-old and has therefore left his grandmother Katherine Jackson’s care and has recently purchased a new home for himself now he has flown the parental nest.
His house is reportedly worth a whopping $2.6million (£2.3million) and is born close to his family in LA.
He is rarely seen out in public and has much less in terms of following than his brother and sister.
