One Direction were only together for just over five years, but it was more than enough time to take over the world. After being formed in the 2010 edition of The X Factor, the quintet toured the world multiple times and released five albums, selling more than 70 million records in the process. Their hiatus in 2015 hit fans hard, but could their wait finally be over?
Throughout 2021 the odds on 1D getting back together have been very strong.
But, with just precious few days left of the year, the chances of them finally reuniting are getting slimmer by the hour.
Thankfully, Ladbrokes has now released odds on One Direction getting back together in 2022 – and things look good.
The leading bookmakers have given the boy band an impressive 10/11 on getting back together next year.
Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati said: “Harry Styles and co have never ruled out a reunion, and the latest odds suggest Directioners could be in for a treat in the New Year.” If the band were to get back together next year it would come seven years after their split in 2015. The end of the band happened almost a year after Zayn Malik quit the band. At the time he cited stress and wanting to be a “normal 22-year-old” as his reasons for quitting. He left Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan to continue on their world tour at the time.

These odds are a good omen and build on the news that one massive star believes the boy band will reunite soon.
International star Ed Sheeran was recently quizzed over whether his pals in 1D will reunite soon.
He replied: “They will come off hiatus.”
However, his follow up comment was not something fans would want to hear.
Ed added: “But it won’t be the five of them, I think. I think it will be like a Take That situation.”
He is of course referring to Zayn’s early exit from the band, who he suspects will not return to the group.
If this is the case, will they be able to bring back that spark the original line-up had? Or will the band feel like they are missing something?
Things could be a lot more complicated than they seem, anyway, all thanks to Harry and his career.
Harry has recently jumped into the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Starfox.
His debut in Eternals means he most likely has a collection of high-profile films coming up.
With such massive commitments on the horizon, Harry may not have enough time to rejoin a touring boy band on top of writing and recording new music.
What’s more, Harry will hopefully be touring the UK and Europe in 2022, limiting his time even further.
