Taylor Swift Fans Show They #StandWithTaylor Amid Scooter Braun Drama During Amazon Prime Day Concert
After a week of drama, Taylor Swift headlined the Amazon Prime Day concert, hosted by Jane Lynch and accompanied by such performers as Dua Lipa, SZA, and Beck G.
After the singer’s Tumblr post about Scooter Braun acquiring Big Machine Records (and her masters), fans couldn’t help but wonder if Swift would mention the drama at the concert.
She didn’t explicitly, but fans reported a subtle allusion to her feelings on the matter throughout her performance, particularly in songs that mentioned “liars” and “dirty cheats.”
Even if Swift wasn’t going to bring up the Big Machine Label Group drama, her fans were going to show their support.
“Hold this PINK heart against your flashlight the moment Taylor Swift finishes performing her first song,” read the paper hearts that were held and passed around by many of those in attendance.
When Swift finished her first song, “ME!,” a sea of pink could be seen throughout the audience.

Also in support of Swift were Gigi Hadid, Ashley Avignone, and Justin Theroux, who all took videos of the pop star’s set.
Taylor Swift’s Amazon Prime Day set
Swift’s set featured several of her old hits. Like “Love Story.”
“I started out in country music, and one thing that has been really wonderfully consistent throughout the entire time that I’ve been making music is that I write all of it,” she said, seemingly reminding her audience that though Braun may own her previous music, she is the original creator. “ It’s my favorite thing to write songs and they go out into the world and you guys are nice enough to care about the words that I’ve written…anyone who has been singing the words to this, it’s like, yes, thank you. When I was 17 I ended up writing this song in my room when I was by myself and you really never know what’s going to happen in life, and I didn’t know that would go out into the world and completely change my life.”

She also performed the live debut of her latest single “You Need to Calm Down,” an acoustic version of “Welcome to New York,” “Style,” “Blank Space,” “Love Story,” “I Knew You Were Trouble,” and “Delicate.”
Before performing “You Need to Calm Down,” she gave her audience and the viewers at home a taste of what listeners can expect from Lover.
“I have a new album coming out, I’m really excited about it. I’m so excited to share it with you, I really really am, because it’s called Lover. The album is a love letter to love itself. I think that love is such an inspiring thing to write about, especially for us songwriters. Love is so many things, love is complexity, love is pain, love is hope, love is equality,” she said.
She closed, not with a new song, but with “Shake It Off,” where many audience members thought she particularly emphasized “dirty, dirty cheats of the world.”
