Anne Robinson net worth, £20m divorce and booze struggles

Anne Robison has announced that she will be stepping down from her role on Countdown after hosting the show for a year.

The 77-year-old presenter became the first female host of the Channel 4 quiz show last year.

After recording 265 episodes of the show, Robinson has decided it is time for her to step down.

Anne became known for her role as host on The Weakest Link but the cutthroat presenter has had quite the journey when it comes to her career and family life.

From battles with booze to costly divorces, Anne has been through a lot, but the presenter has opened up about issues in her private life.

Is Anne Robinson still married?

Anne Robinson is no longer married. The Weakest Link star is twice divorced from two fellow journalists.

Robinson married Scottish journalist Charles Wilson in 1968 but the pair split after five years.

After the divorce, Anne lost a custody battle for her daughter, Emma, who was just two at the time.

In 1980 Anne married again, this time to journalist John Penrose but after 27 years of marriage, the couple announced their split in 2007.

As part of the divorce, Robinson was forced to make a £20million divorce payout to Penrose, which was reportedly a third of her fortune at the time.

Anne Robinson’s battle with booze

Robinson has opened up about her alcoholism a number of times and in 2017 she told the Mail: "By my mid-30s, I got to the point where I probably had about six weeks to live,"

"I suffered from a really bad drink problem and my weight dropped down to about six stone."

Anne became known for her heavy drinking during her early career as a newspaper journalist, but the presenter continued to struggle for many years.

Her issues with booze reportedly contributed to her first divorce as well as her loss of custody of her daughter, who was taken off Anne by social services after she was ruled an “unfit mother”.

But in 1978 Anne gave up alcohol for good and joined Alcoholics Anonymous, she has since turned her life around and has a good relationship with her daughter.

What is Anne Robinson’s net worth?

Despite her costly divorces and issues with alcohol that threatened her career, Anne Robinson has managed to rack up a massive net worth as a successful TV presenter and host.

According to Celebrity Net Worth Anne is currently worth £32million.

Anne has bagged her millions during a successful career that started in the newspaper industry.

The now TV presenter started her career as a trainee journalist with the Daily Mail but made the shift to TV in 1982 as an occasional panellist on BBC's Question Time.

Since then she’s presented Points of View, The Weakest Link, The One Show and Countdown.
