The popular Breaking Bad spin-off will wrap up the story of Jimmy McGill aka Saul Goodman (played by Bob Odenkirk) with its sixth and final season. Following an unexpected health scare for Better Call Saul’s leading man earlier this year, production soon got back on track and will be headed to AMC in 2022.
Filming for the conclusive season of Better Call Saul is officially coming to an end, writer Thomas has confirmed.
The key crew member took to Twitter on Tuesday this week to share the update with his followers.
He wrote: “I’m leaving the great state of New Mexico today after finishing production on my final episode of #BetterCallSaul.
“I’ve been happy to work [with] the great crews here all these years! Looking forward to doing more here…”
Thomas has written and directed several episodes of the acclaimed prequel series throughout its six-season run.
He also penned a number of chapters in the mainline series starring Bryan Cranston as Walter White, starting in season three.
While his latest update confirms his time on the show has reached its end, there may still be some season six episodes left to film.
Plus, Better Call Saul may be hurtling towards its conclusion, but Thomas’ new post indicated he’ll still be sticking around for more of AMC’s future TV projects.
Production was initially put on hold after Bob suffered a “small heart attack” in New Mexico back in July.
Thankfully, he had returned to full health by September and filming was able to continue.
The schedule is now close to complete, with an official announcement expected soon after writer Thomas’ recent update.
Several excited fans took to the comments of his new post in anticipation of Better Call Saul’s hotly-anticipated return.

One fan, with the username @itsSaulGoodman, replied: “You had me at ‘looking forward to doing more here….’
“Thanks Tom for all the work you’ve done through the years. Your work is the best there is.
“Season 6 scares the s**t out of me cause most of us know what you bring to the table.”
Jimmy’s fate in Better Call Saul is tethered to his appearance in Breaking Bad, so things can’t go too awry in his past before he met Walter White.
However, the series also features segments from the shady lawyer’s unknown future, which could end in tragedy by the show’s end.
Twitter user John Wallstrom added: “That’s 13 years straight of some of the best television we have ever witnessed.
“[Creator Vince] Gilligan should create ANOTHER spinoff on Gus Fring and Max called Los Pollos Hermanos.”
Showrunner Vince has been working within the Breaking Bad sandbox for well over a decade now, but could the story continue once Bob Odenkirk says goodbye to his most iconic role to date?
Better Call Saul season six will premiere in 2022 on AMC.
