The sixth and final season of Better Call Saul is bound to be an explosive affair given the events of the season five finale. With Lalo Salamanca (played by Tony Dalton) on the warpath, the mystery of Kim Wexler’s (Rhea Seehorn) pre-Breaking Bad arc and Jimmy McGill’s (Bob Odenkirk) full transition into Saul Goodman all at play, the final series of the AMC and Netflix UK drama has a number of loose ends to tie up.

However, like so many productions across the globe, the past year or so has been far from plain sailing to get the new episodes on the air.

The Covid pandemic wreaked havoc on filming schedules, meaning Better Call Saul suffered delays and shut-downs to production as a result.

Not only that but the entertainment world was rocked earlier this year when leading star Odenkirk collapsed on the set of Better Call Saul after “experiencing a heart related incident”, according to his reps.

Odenkirk recovered to full health and is now back on set recording his final scenes as Jimmy McGill to bring the budding and dodgy lawyer’s story to a close.

However, while filming remains ongoing, Better Call Saul season six is still no closer to receiving a confirmed premiere date by AMC.

But writer Thomas Schnauz dropped a big clue on his Twitter page this month that filming is nearing its climax.

Sharing a snap of a crane on the set of the drama, Schnauz tweeted: “The return of the Cranes of #BetterCallSaul, the final season.”

And while this didn’t give too much away, he soon followed it up with a snap of the clapperboard from the episode in question.

He captioned the snap: “When we put the camera up high on a crane, we get these giant #BetterCallSaul slates, which I love.”

Eagle-eyed fans can spot on the clapperboard the episode which Schnauz and his team were filming was the 11th of the sixth season.

And with the sixth season tipped to contain 13 episodes, it didn’t take long for fans to weigh in with their excitement that filming has almost wrapped.

Twitter user Antonio excitedly replied: “EP 611. Let’s go! We’re almost done!”

While @therealPdurling tweeted: “Omg you’re almost done [cry emoji].”

And fellow Better Call Saul fan Kyle pointed out: “Only two more to go?” (Sic)

So while Schnauz didn’t give away any release date information, the news that filming is nearing its end will be welcome for the Better Call Saul fandom.

This latest update comes less than a month Marco Salamanca star Luis Moncada took to Instagram to drop a clue of his own at the season six release date.

The actor commented under a photo shared to the show’s official Instagram page of Kim Wexler in action.

He typed: “New Season will be sometime in the First quarter of 2022.”

Better Call Saul season 6 is tipped to air on AMC in the USA in 2022. A UK release date from Netflix is yet to be announced.
