On Tuesday’s The Chase, ITV host Bradley Walsh welcomed four new contestants to take on Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan. Martin, Rebecca, Jayesh and Lucia had to work together in a bid to win as much money as possible for their jackpot. However, The Larkins actor was left lost for words when he realised the first contestant was an extra on Outlander.

The Starz series, which is an adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s historical saga, centres around the story of characters Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).

Season five of Outlander concluded with a lot of heartbreak for Claire, and fans have been eagerly waiting to see how season six plays out.

The time-travel drama will return for a shortened outing of eight episodes in March.

Actor Martin, who was the first contestant to take on The Chaser, stunned Bradley when he revealed he’d starred in the hit series.

“I have been an actor for most of my life,” Martin explained to the host.

“Have you?” Bradley said in awe. “What have you done?”

The player replied: “I had one line in Outlander. That was good fun.”

“I have done some feature films as well,” he added as a surprised Bradley asked: “Have you?”

As Martin continued to explain what else had worked on, an impressed Bradley said: “That is fantastic.”

After the introductions were done, Bradley began the quickfire question round where Martin answered five questions correctly.

The Outlander extra was given the chance to win £25,000, although, he decided to play it safe and went with the £5,000 he had won.

Martin admitted if he won any money he wanted to go back to Japan to see his wife and daughter.

The next player to try her luck was Rebecca who answered four questions correctly in the quickfire round.

When it came to facing Jenny, the quizzer gave her the option of winning a low offer of £400 and a high offer of £37,000.

Despite giving it her best effort, it wasn’t enough for Rebecca to beat Jenny and so she was the first player to be sent home.

Next in line was martial arts enthusiast Jayesh who answered five questions correctly.

The contestant from East London was given the chance to win £44,000, although, once again he played it safe and went for the £5,000.

Jayesh stormed through his round and made it to the final along with Martin.

The last player to take on Jenny was Lucia who seemed confident she’d make it through.

The consultant stormed through the quickfire round and answered six questions correctly.

After making it through to the final, the remaining three contestants had to answer as many questions as they could in two minutes.

It was then up to Jenny to try and match the player’s questions as quickly as she could.

It was very touch-and-go towards the end, with Jenny beating the contestants with just 16 seconds to spare.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
