Celebs Go Dating fans viewers divided as bosses ‘add Love Island twist’ to show
Celeb Go Dating fans were left scratching their heads on Wednesday evening as they thought they'd switched on Love Island by accident.
E4 viewers witnessed Ibiza legend Wayne Linker, international DJ Tom Zanetti, reality star Curtis Pritchard and television presenter Karim Zeroual each pick a female contestant to remain in the mansion in a bid to find love.
Dating gurus Anna Williamson and Paul C Brunson gathered the male celebrities together at the start of the show and told them they had to decide who they'd like to get to know more.
Love Island is famous for its iconic recoupling scenes where contestants decide who they'd like to get to know more in the Spanish villa.
Viewers were left divided with the new addition to Celebs Go Dating, with some moaning that it was too similar to the ITV2 dating show.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "E4 saw an opportunity to literally do Love Island and cross it with Big Brother and aren’t even hiding it now."
Another added: "For a minute I thought I was watching Love Island and not Celebs Go Dating. Bet Curtis was itching to say 'the person I want to couple up with is'."
A third person posted: "Celebs Go Dating is turning into celeb Love Island.. not liking it tbh."
"The way this show is going is giving me a vibe of Love Island/Big Brother lol," a fourth said.
While a fifth person wrote: "This Celebs Go Dating is trying hard not to be Love Island but can’t help it."
A sixth social media user said: "Celebs Go Dating The Mansion is very Love Island but in the UK vibes and I am here for it."
The E4 dating show has been forced to add major changes to the show due to coronavirus restrictions.
Instead of going on lavish dates across the city like in previous series, the celebrities will now live with their potential partners in a multi-million pound mansion.
The celebrities and contestants taking part will live together in a bid to find love.
Geordie Shore babe Chloe Ferry, Coronation Street actress Kimberley Hart-Simpson and Made in Chelsea's Sophie Hermann have also signed up to the celebrity dating agency for the latest series.
Will any of the famous faces leave the mansion with a partner?
