Coronation Street spoilers – Major Corrie star QUITS soap in shock twist; plus EastEnders & Emmerdale news

A CORONATION Street fan favourite is to QUIT the show in a major shock twist, it has been confirmed today.

The Sun exclusively revealed how Charlie De Melo had decided to quit his Corrie role earlier this year, and now co-star Georgia Taylor has confirmed it.

Asked about how she felt about his leaving, she told The Sun and other press: “Heartbroken. I absolutely adore him.

“He's been a dream, an absolute dream. We have been together on the show for three and a half years but in the last year, since we've done all the stuff with Seb's trial, we've been pretty consistently busy and most of our stuff has been together and it's just been a joy."

She added: "He's so funny so we laugh a lot but he is honestly one of the most supportive people I have ever worked with and even now, we're still in touch obviously, he's texting me, 'How did the day go? Are you OK?'

“He's just a team player. And I mean look at him, there's no complaints there either. He's beautiful.

“He's been amazing but I'm so excited to see what he's going to do next because I think the opportunities are going to be endless for him. He's going to fly."

EastEnders fans blown away by Michelle Gayle's youthful appearance

Former EastEnders star Michelle Gayle was one of four celebrities to test her knowledge in House of Games.

Viewers of the game show were stunned to see the actress hadn't changed since her last appearance in the BBC One soap.

Independent music-lover Hattie Tavernier made her first appearance in Albert Square in 1990, becoming Ian Beale's personal assistant.

Out of all the men she could have picked, fell in love with Steve Elliott.

But when the latter refused to be tied down and began to play mind games, Hattie soon had enough of his antics.

Devastated, she left the Square in 1993 to go to Norwich where she found a new love, never to be heard of or seen again.

This week, however, she made an appearance in Richard Osman's House of Games alongside James Cracknell, Maisie Adam and Rory Bremmer.

But as she tested her knowledge with her fellow contestants, Michelle blew viewers away as it seemed she hadn't aged a day.

EastEnders' Max Bowden & Shona McGarty have become inseparable

EastEnders stars Shona McGarty and Max Bowden have become inseparable after he split from his pregnant lover.

Shona, 30, who plays Whitney Dean, looks smitten with Max, insiders say.

The actor, 27, who stars as Ben Mitchell in the soap, assured his girlfriend he was not seeing anyone else when they separated earlier this year. He and Shona also insist they are not "officially dating".

But pals yesterday admitted: "Who knows what could happen in the future?"

Max and Shona looked cosy while out with another couple at a country music festival at London's O2 in March.

They are also said to be tactile and never apart on the BBC set. A source said: "Max and Shona are mad for each other. They have been spending quality time together for a while now. Max and Shona's friendship is more enthralling than an EastEnders' plotline."

Max's ex-lover, insurance exec Roisin Buckle, revealed last month they were having a baby boy. The couple vowed to raise the child together, despite splitting earlier this year.

Shona is single after splitting from electrician fiancé Ryan Harris in January

EastEnders viewers horrified as Mick Carter deals brutal snub to Princess Diana

PREPARATIONS for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee are in full swing in Albert Square.

But during last night's EastEnders instalment, fans were appalled when a portrait of Lady Diana vanished from The Queen Vic.

While parties are being organised across the UK for the big day, Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter (portrayed by Danny Dyer) brings the celebrations on screen.

During Tuesday's episode of the BBC One soap, viewers saw the character begin to plan celebrations as Her Majesty the Queen's Platinum Jubilee is fast approaching.

This led to him reorganising the décor in the boozer as he chatted to Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) and Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) about his plans, which include welcoming the Prince of Wales and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall in Walford.

"You can never have enough bunting or sausage rolls", he said as he held a photo of Queen Elizabeth which he was ready to hang on one of the walls.

However, outraged fans soon noticed that Mick had taken down a very important piece of artwork of Lady Diana Spencer and took to Twitter.

"They taken down the Princess Diana portrait I am offended", one viewer wrote.
