Coronation Street star Kimberly Hart-Simpson leaving the soap and has filmed final scenes as sex worker Nicky

KIMBERLY Hart-Simpson has bowed out of Coronation Street, The Sun Online can reveal.

The actress – who played sex worker Nicky Wheatley in the ITV soap – has filmed her final scenes for the show – for now.

Viewers watched as Nicky left the cobbles last month after Daniel Osbourne helped her pay off her debts so she could have a new life by the sea with her daughter.

He had stolen from evil Geoff Metcalfe to get the money together to help her, and it was only when she returned some of it that Geoff realised what had happened.

He reported Daniel to the police and he was forced to borrow the money from Craig to pay him back.

And now it can be revealed that the scenes of Nicky saying goodbye were her final scenes – but it’s not necessarily a permanent exit.

A source told The Sun Online: “Nicky’s proved really popular with viewers and the bosses absolutely love Kimberly.

“The character has gone off for the storyline to develop but the door is very much open for her return.”

The Sun Online understands that any return for Nicky would be in the new year which rules her out for taking part in the show’s 60th anniversary.

She was pictured earlier this week enjoying an outdoor workout in Manchester.

Actress Kimberly recently teamed up with fellow former Corrie star Sean Ward to film a special documentary on mental health in the fashion industry.

"Today was the best," said Kimberley as she shared a behind-the-scenes photo on her Instagram.

A Coronation Street spokeswoman confirmed the door had been left open for Nicky to return.
