Corrie star thanks Liz Hurley for giving her confidence to wear bikini after op

A Coronation Street star has thanked model and actress Liz Hurley for giving her the "confidence" to wear a bikini after undergoing a double mastectomy.

Victoria Ekanoye, 41, portrayed Angie Appleton, the estranged wife of Mary Taylor's son Jude Appleton, in the hit ITV1 soap opera.

Last year (2021), the actress was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ – which is where cancer cells have developed within the milk ducts in the breast.

She was diagnosed just months after giving birth to her first child Théo with her partner Jonny Lomas.

And now the stunning soap star has thanked two special people for inspiring her to strip off following a double mastectomy.

On her birthday (December 11), Victoria stripped off to a blue bikini to show off her incredible curves.

Standing proud and beaming for the camera, Victoria posed up a storm and wrote a caption which read: "Celebrating a blessed life," alongside the sizzling bikini snap.

"Today is my 41st birthday, and I've been taking some time to reflect on just how lucky I am," she continued.

She went on to touch on how it's been one year since she has surgery and now "finally" feels comfortable in her own skin.

Touching on her "reservations", Victoria acknowledged that she has never posted a snap in her bikini before, adding: "But when I look at these photos, I feel strong, focused and ready."

The soap star went on: "After a double mastectomy I thought I wouldn’t dare wear a bikini again.

"And I know it’s only aesthetics, but after that kind of blow, how you feel when you look in the mirror carries a lot more weight. I’m proud to say that I’ve come this far."

Posting the snap on Instagram, fans and friends were quick to comment on the beautiful snap.

While another added: "Beautiful. Strong. Inspiration."
