EastEnders star Emma Barton looked almost unrecognisable as she shared a fun throwback snap from 1998 on Monday.

The actress, 44, who plays Honey Mitchell on the BBC One soap, took to Instagram to post the photo as she celebrated her friend Danielle's birthday.

In the throwback snap, it showed a young Emma wearing an all-black outfit as she posed with her friend at the beach in Devon during the summer of 1998.

The soap star penned: "Summer of 1998… Beach everyday, beautiful suntans, BBQ’s & bottles of Lambrini…. & shared it with you @ejrj24 Happiest of birthdays my friend. Love ya…."

Emma's 128K followers were quick to react to the fun throwback snap with one person writing: "Look at you! Happy birthday Danielle x."

A different account put: "You look amazing Emma! also happy bday Danielle."

While another follower sweetly added: "Looking gorgeous as per- happy birthday Danielle x."

Emma joined EastEnders in 2005 and she has played Honey Mitchell on and off on the BBC One soap ever since.

The actress also took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2019 where she was paired with Anton Du Beke, where they impressively finished as runners-up.

Emma and Anton, 55, have remained friends since with the actress sweetly wishing him a happy birthday in July and celebrating the news of him becoming a judge for the new series of Strictly later this year.

Elsewhere, in upcoming scenes on EastEnders Emma's character Honey offers to help Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) sort through Jags’ (Amar Adatia) things after striking up a friendship, but before they can, Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) interrupts to tell Honey she’s been given a Pride Of Walford award.

As they go off to celebrate, Suki’s disappointed – but worse is to come when she hears Honey and Kim discussing her. Feeling guilty, Honey later asks Suki to be her plus-one at the awards ceremony.
