Eastenders Karen Taylor star Lorraine Stanley unrecognisable in blockbuster film

Eastenders actress Lorraine Stanley is best known for playing rowdy Karen Taylor in the BBC soap.

Since landing the role, the 44-year-old actress has appeared in many more television shows and movies.

Her television repertoire includes Call The Midwife, Holby City, Casualty and The Bill, as well as movies London to Brighton, Made in Dagenham and Suffragette.

Although she’s best known playing the no-nonsense Albert Square resident, whose signature look includes scruffy hair and a cigarette, she had a big time break back in 2015 alongside some massive Hollywood names in Legend.

Tom Hardy starred as the Kray twins, perpetrators of crime in London’s East End, in the biographical crime thriller movie Legend which was adapted from The Profession Of Violence: The Rise And Fall Of The Kray Twins, a book by John Pearson.

The film follows the careers, antics and relationships of the twin gangsters and Lorraine, alongside other big names such as Christopher Eccleston and Taron Egerton, makes an appearance as a barmaid working at the Blind Beggar pub.

The public house is located in Whitechapel, London and is the place where Ronnie Kray murdered George Cornell on March 9 1966. Ronnie shot George, a member of a rival gang, as he was sat at the bar.

Lorraine tweeted about her time on set in September 2015, captioned: “Looking forward to the premiere Thursday.”

The black and white picture shows Lorraine leaning against a vintage car, wearing pointed heels, a tight dress, a cropped jacket and a handbag in the crook of her elbow.

She also reposted another black and white picture, this time beside Tom Hardy himself as she was dressed as the barmaid of the Blind Beggar.

Tom is dressed in a dapper suit and tie, wearing his hair slicked back and the signature Ronnie Kray frames.

The tweet was posted by a Twitter user named Ben, captioned: “Two of the best British actors in the business!”, to which Lorraine replied: “Thank you Ben, that was a hard day's work…I love my job.”

She looked unrecognisable in her sophisticated attire and short curled cropped hair do, nothing like her usual self, causing mischief as the iconic Karen Taylor in Albert Square.

EastEnders airs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday on BBC One
