'Falcon and the Winter Soldier' Star Anthony Mackie Confirms Captain America's Wings Are Made of Vibranium

Marvel’s recently-concluded limited series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, has been a big hit amongst fans. Anthony Mackie, who plays the Falcon and later becomes the new Captain America, has quickly become a fan favorite, and is rumored to be starring in an upcoming Captain America 4 movie.

One of the more shocking moments in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was when the Falcon’s wings were ripped off halfway through the series. However, things come full circle in the season finale, when he’s given a new set of wings from the Wakandans and takes the mantle as the new Cap.

There’s been a ton of speculation about whether or not Captain America’s new wings are made from vibranium or not, but Mackie recently confirmed that the wings are indeed made of vibranium.

Anthony Mackie admitted Captain America’s wings are made from vibranium

Mackie assured Stephen Colbert that the wings were made of vibranium during a recent interview.

“100 percent, the best Vibranium CGI can buy,” Mackie said.

He says his Captain America suit doesn’t have fake muscles

In the same interview, Mackie noted that he had to work out nonstop in order to fill out his new costume.

“I will say, there’s no muscle suit under my suit. That’s my pride, ever since… seven movies in I’m like ‘I don’t want a muscle suit under my suit,’” Mackie revealed. “So I had to work out every day, all day.

He had no idea ‘Captain America 4’ was a possibility

Mackie ended up getting an entirely new look for his role as Captain America. Reports have been circulating about the possibility of a Captain America 4 movie, even though Mackie admitted he knows nothing about the future of his character.

“I literally found out yesterday in a grocery store,” Mackie said “The checkout guy named Dwayne, a cool cat, he’s like, ‘Yo, man. Is this real?!’ [holds up a cellphone] I’m like, ‘I haven’t heard anything.’ That’s what I love about working for Marvel. They call you, they’re like, ‘Come to L.A. We wanna tell you what’s going on.’ So, I’m excited to see what happens, but I haven’t heard anything.”

‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ creator Malcolm Spellman denied rumors of ‘Captain America 4’

However, even though there’s been a lot of speculation about an upcoming Captain America 4 movie, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier creator Malcolm Spellman refused to confirm the chatter in an interview with ComicBook.com.

“Who said it? Did Kevin say it?” Spellman said. “I would not put faith in anything you do not hear directly from the man himself!”

Spellman did acknowledge, however, that the Marvel team gives him significant creative freedom with projects, which may mean he has free reign to do whatever he wants with the Captain America character.

“This’ll help people understand the Marvel process. They want you to just create the best sh*t you can create,” Spellman said. “If you’re writing and Vision is in your… And you said, ‘Hey, I got the great picture of Vision appearing,’ they’re going to tell you, ‘No,’ because WandaVision is coming, right? But beyond that, you are free.”
