First two couples leave Married At First Sight UK 2022 in tear-jerking scenes

Married At First Sight UK has seen its first two couples make joint decisions to leave the 2022 series, with the pairs breaking down in tears after making their choices.

Tonight, the second commitment ceremony of the programme took place, with pairs including April Banbury and George Roberts as well as Whitney Hughes and Duka Cav placed under the microscope by the panel of experts.

The second couple to be interrogated about their relationship was Jess Potter and Pjay Finch, who’ve had a rocky journey from the very start.

Having originally had doubts about Pjay from the day of their wedding due to his profession as a stripper, during tonight’s ceremony, Jess admitted she was struggling to find a romantic connection with her partner.

Despite acknowledging how well they get on, and that they share the same values in life, Jess couldn’t get past her doubts about their relationship, revealing that she’d decided to leave the process.

On Pjay’s side of things, he revealed that his decision came down to whether or not Jess wanted to give their bond a chance.

After hearing her definitive answer that she was ready to go home, Pjay’s mind was made up, realising that his time on the programme was up.

One viewer praised Pjay on how he dealt with the situation, as he still showed concern for Jess’ feelings despite being rejected.

‘Pjay is such a good man. Sitting there hearing Jess saying there is nothing there & still comforting her,’ they wrote.

‘Pjay put yourself first, I don’t think Jess has done anything wrong by being cruel to be kind. Better than stringing him along. However, I do not think she gave him a fair chance,’ another remarked.

Someone else commended Jess and Pjay on their ‘honesty and respect’, expressing their admiration for how they avoided ‘anger and arguments’ in the breakdown of their relationship.

‘They both did this with dignity; this is how you let each other go if one of you is just not into it,’ one person tweeted.

Later on, it was Lara Eyre and Richie Dews’ turn to be questioned on their relationship, which had also, sadly, drawn to a close.

The couple’s eyes welled up with tears as they shared how ‘gutted’ they were to be ending their journey, but knew the decision was for the best.

Several viewers were heartbroken to say goodbye to Richie and Lara, with one person saying they were their ‘favourite couple’.

‘At least Lara & Richie were brave enough to call it quits,’ someone else said, while another remarked: ‘Didn’t expect Lara and Richie to leave…..’

Married At First Sight UK returns tomorrow at 9pm on E4 and is available to watch on All 4.
