Countryfile presenter Hamza wowed the judges on Saturday night’s opening show of Strictly Come Dancing series 20 and managed to achieve a score of 34. However, health concerns have now been sparked as the BBC star and his professional partner Jowita appeared on spin-off show, Strictly – It Takes Two and opened up on a knee injury Hamza had been faced with, in which he described the process the due now go through “every day” to be able to train.

The couple, still beaming from their performance on Saturday, appeared on It Takes Two to chat with former professional-turned-host Janette Manrara about their experience so far.

Although the pair were excited about the weekend, they also had some disappointing news to discuss.

Before concluding their interview, Janette remarked: “Also just quickly, you’ve been patching Hamza as well in rehearsals!

“So you are working really hard because we’ve got this going on – what’s happening?!”

“Yes, every day!” Hamza commented, while Jowita assured the presenter: “It’s prevention.”

But a video showed the dancer having to bandage Hamza’s knee.

“Every day,” Hamza repeated. “I’m complaining about knee pains all the time.

“My knees are always hurting all this kicking, and this what she has to do basically to keep me from complaining about my knees.”

“But I do it with pleasure,” Jowita remarked before Hamza agreed: “You do, you do.”

The ballroom dnacer continued: “And I know how to do it very fast. So now we get it on very quickly.”

“With the first one was like… okay? But now it’s just like, ‘done!'”

“And it works,” Hamza explained, detailing how the bandage enables him to carry on dancing.

“So I can last nine hours of dancing,” he continued, to which Janette gasped: “Nine hours?”

“Yeah nine hours a day, six days a week,” the presenter replied.

Appearing stunned, Janette clarified: “That’s how much you’re rehearsing for the jive?”

The couple nodded and Janette went on: “Well, I hope those patches are working.

“And you keep working on those kicks and flicks because I feel like this is going to be an incredible jive. Good luck to the two of you at the weekend.”

Fans will be relieved that Hamza’s injury seems to under control and it’s hoped it won’t affect his performance this weekend.

The two had earlier talked about the jive they will be performing on Saturday, claiming it wasn’t an easy routine.

“There’s a lot of energy and a lot of sass in that,” Jowita remarked. “So you’re going to see a completely different side of Hamza.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
