Limited series Treason is going to be hitting Netflix today (Boxing Day) from the writer behind the Oscar-winning Bridge of Spies. Fans can expect a tense, edge-of-the-seat watch with twists and turns till the very end. The high-stakes drama has an impressive cast to match the plot – here’s where you may recognise the actors from.

Treason sees an attempt made of the life the head of MI6 with a new boss installed at the top amid a conspiracy theory and questions over whether this recent appointment has already been compromised and could be working for the enemy.

Writer Matt Charman said of the inspiration for Treason: “I’ve always loved the spy genre. I love the fusion of high stakes but with real people caught in the middle of something they’re fighting to be free of.

“For me the original focus of it was ‘How can I find a story that has a big, twisty plot but also has something deeply human going on?’

“So it’s a combination of hopefully what we do really well in this country with John Le Carré and compelling psychological portraits of human beings while at the same time coupling that with something that feels alive and urgent and happening in the moment. That’s what I was really reaching for.
