Hollyoaks villain Eric Foster's (Angus Castle-Doughty) hate campaign campaign against women takes a dark turn in upcoming scenes.

The dramatic 2023 teaser trailer for the Channel 4 soap has dropped revealing that fans can expect over the next few weeks.

Maxine Minniver (Nicki Sanderson) is taken captive by Eric when she uncovers his disturbing plans..

The advert also sparks fears that worse may be to come as Eric is seen in The Dog with a crossbow at his sister, Verity Hutchinson’s, wake.

Fuelled by his misogynistic beliefs of feeling ignored by women, and the support from his online community, Eric embarks on his plan to enact deadly "revenge".

Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard) also announces his wife Diane Hutchinson's (Alex Fletcher) "is dead", and with Lizzie Chen-Williams (Lily Best), Serena Chen-Williams (Emma Lau) , Cindy Cunningham (Steph Waring), Zara Morgan (Kelly Condron), Zoe Anderson (Garcia Brown) and Maxine as hostages, will he claim any more victims?

The footage also hints at Mason Chen-Williams (Frank Kauer) being caught out for posting pictures of Leah Barnes ( Elá-May Melek Demircan) online.

As he lies in a hospital bed injured, he warns his parents of Eric’s plan, but is it too late?

Also, arriving in style, Rayne (Jemma Donovan) turns heads as she rocks up in the village on a vespa, ready to support best friend Lacey (Annabelle Davis) who has a job interview with hard-to-impress James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) at Dee Valley Law.

Another familiar face returns as Romeo Nightgale (Owen Warner) is back from Spain and ready for his welcome home party, but what will he make of his new roommates, and what antics do they have in store.?

A new romance flourishes in the new year as Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood) offers Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) a shoulder to cry on, but little does she know that her new love interest is responsible for her son, Bobby Costello (Jayden Fox), being behind bars.

It’s not long before guilt spurs Felix on to confess, but will Mercedes be able to forgive?

Elsewhere, Juliet Nightingale's (Niamh Blackshaw) lymphoma diagnosis takes its toll as she continues to push family and friends away, but her ex-fiancée Peri Lomax (Ruby O'Donnell) offers her support and encourages her to lean on the people who care for her.

Will their shared trauma pull them together or drive them apart?

Hollyoaks airs weekdays on Channel 4 at 6.30pm followed by a first-look episode on E4 at 7pm
