Hollyoaks confirm Sid Sumner is alive as Billy Price returns to Channel 4 soap

Hollyoaks confirmed that Sid Sumner is alive and well during Wednesday's first-look episode as Billy Price made a shock return to the village.

The young lad was seemingly killed off earlier this month when drug dealer Victor Brothers (Benjamin O'Mahony) took drastic action to stop him from sharing damning evidence with the police.

An emotional Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) later spread the word that Sid had died in his arms but it has been revealed that it was all part of a plan to take down the county lines drug operation once and for all.

Ste and Ollie Morgan (Gabriel Clark) managed to finally get Victor arrested during Wednesday's first-look episode on E4 which eventually led to the shock return of Sid.

At the end of the dramatic episode, the youngster made a sensational comeback telling his fellow villagers: "You look like you've seen a ghost".

Opening up about shocking twist, Billy told Daily Star: "Sid genuinely did get stabbed by Victor.

"He wasn't wearing a vest or faking it or anything, but what we didn't see off-screen is that the ambulance got there in time and managed to stabilise him.

"The message was already out there in the village that Sid had died so from a logical standpoint we ran with it and we left everyone thinking we was dead but he went into witness protection."

He continued: "In general day to day life, people tend to go into winters protection if its safer for them to do so and the fact we did that was quite nice as it left the audience on the edge of their seats.

"It was all part of this plan so Victor would relax more and was left vulnerable."

Billy went on to share how the likes of James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan), Peri Lomax (Ruby O'Donnell), Ollie and Courtney Campbell (Amy Conachan) react to Sid's return.

The 20-year-old soap star explained: "The reaction from everyone is a 50/50 split to be honest. Ste was the only person who knew about it because the more people that knew, the more chance it would get out.

"For James and Ollie, they kind of been taking this guilt with them the whole time that they're the reason that Sid's dead almost and they've got some part to play in the blame.

"However, Peri and Courtney are very annoyed with Sid. They're happy he's alive but Sid is in their bad books because they've had to mourn him which is horrible in the first place, never mind to do it for no reason."

Some Hollyoaks fans expressed suspicion over the one-day time jump between episodes, suspecting that a twist could have taken place off-screen.

The biggest clue to a possible return for Sid came 24 hours after his death was seemingly confirmed on screen.

In a video montage of Sid's best bits, posted on Hollyoaks' official social pages, Billy popped up to hint at an upcoming twist.

Talking about that cryptic clip, the actor said: "Sid's death was overwhelming. It went to number one trending on Twitter and that alone is just crazy.

"We weren't going to do the video and let the audience find out for themselves but the reaction of Sid dying caused uproar.

"People ere saying they were going to stop watching and going to riot and I know it's just throw away comments but people get attached to this show.

"It's on every day and you become so attached to the character that people do genuinely feel these things.

"So we thought we'd give fans something to look forward to and the video had a great reaction."

Billy also teased whats in store for Sid following his return to the village.
