I was in the audience for The Voice and bosses kicked us out if we didn't follow VERY strict rules

A PERSON who featured in the audience on The Voice has spilled the beans on what happens behind the scenes – including a set of very strict rules.

A post on Reddit from three years ago has revealed a damning secret that many fans of the singing show will be shocked to find out.

Taking to the social news aggregation site, user CardboardMice posted: "Redditors who have been on game shows, what’s it really like?"

In reply, another user – who has since deleted their account – claimed: "I was part of the live audience for The Voice. Something related to singing. Not a game show.

"We were all told to not use the back rows and everyone fill the seats starting from the front, just so it looks like a booked out show from the perspective of people watching at home.

"Before the cameras rolled, we were prompted by the person coordinating the show to cheer for the contestant or boo at the judges for not being 'impressed' by the contestant."

The user also revealed that audience members would be escorted off the premises if they didn't abide by a set of strict rules.

"We were also given rules to follow," they continued.

"No standing during filming, no talking during filming, no phones, give a 150 per cent performance whenever the camera is pointed in your general direction.

"Anyone who doesn't cheer or jeer at the appropriate times were escorted off theatre grounds."

The Voice has been a huge hit across the globe since its debut in 2011, with many artists using the platform to launch their careers.

As years have gone by, the prize for winning The Voice UK has changed.

When the show first hit our screens on the BBC, there was a £100,000 cash prize for the victorious contestant.

But since the show has moved to ITV, there is no cash prize – replaced instead by a record deal with Polydor Records alongside the release of their debut single.

Last year, Craig Eddie was crowned the winner of last year's series after being coached by Rockabye singer Anne-Marie.
