Is Bethany Platt going to die as Lucy Fallon says goodbye to Corrie?

Lucy Fallon has admitted that she’s unsure of what lies ahead for Bethany Platt on Coronation Street – and could even be killed off in the upcoming months.

The actress announced two weeks ago that she would be ending her run on the cobbles, filming her final scenes in January 2020.

As a result Bethany would be leaving the street around March.

Speaking to Daily Star Sunday about the decision, Lucy said: ‘I don’t know if Bethany will be killed off yet.

‘I haven’t been told what the storylines ahead of my exit will be, so I could be absolutely dead.’

‘Obviously I’d be sad if that happened. It would mean closing that door,’ she added.

She later joked she’d be ‘nice to the writers’ and confirmed that it was her decision to leave the show after five years on the soap.

In that time, Lucy’s character Bethany has taken centre stage in a series of harrowing plots, which included being groomed into a vile paedophile ring by her boyfriend.

Since then she’s been struggling with PTSD over the horrors she endured at vile Nathan’s hands, where she was raped and sold among his friends.

She’s also been kidnapped and is currently involved in an affair with Daniel Osbourne, whose wife Sinead is battling cancer.

Lucy went on win four awards over her time on the show, picking up a gong for Oustanding Serial Drama Performance in 2018’s National Television Awards.

‘It’s hard to put into words how much this show means to me,’ Lucy said on her departure announcement.

‘I’ve made lifelong friends with some of the most talented and hardworking people in the industry, I’ve had some terrific and immensely important storylines and I’ve laughed with the best people every day.’

‘I’m so thankful to Iain and everyone at Coronation Street, I owe everything to them and I will miss them greatly,’ she added.
