Is Kelvin Feltcher returning to Emmerdale as Andy Sugden after Strictly?
Former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher has been confirmed as Jamie Laing’s replacement on Strictly Come Dancing.
The BBC confirmed the news on Saturday following the launch show of the new series, and the 35-year-old will be partnered with Oti Mabuse.
Kelvin left Emmerdale in August 2016 after spending twenty years as part of the main cast.
Now that he is returning to our screans for Strictly, many fans are wondering if a return to the village isn’t too far away.
Is Kelvin Fletcher returning to Emmerdale after Strictly?
There are currently no plans for the actor to return to the soap as Andy Sugden.
During an appearance on Lorraine earlier this year he was asked about a possible return, but he reiterated that he had ‘moved on’.
The actor said: ‘I get asked this question all the time, it’s been nearly three years since I left – the answer’s kind of still the same.
‘I’ve done Emmerdale I wanted to move on and do other things.’
He first joined the Emmerdale cast in 1996, when he was 12-years-old, and Andy was the foster child of Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby) and Sarah Sugden (Alyson Spiro).
Kelvin is also a professional racing driver, and since leaving the soap he has been taking part in the British GT Championship.
His involvement with professional driving, and the fact that a Strictly tour is likely on the horizon, means that a return to Emmerdale in the near future is unlikely.
Speaking about joining the Strictly line-up, Kelvins said: ‘Is this really happening?! It’s been the most surreal week of my life! ‘I’m a massive fan of Strictly so it’s incredible.
‘I’m so happy that I can be a part of it. But at the same time it’s quite bittersweet! I’m coming in on the back of Jamie’s injury – I keep thinking about him!’
