Is 'The Bold and the Beautiful' Pre-Empted Due to New Year's Eve?

If you’re a fan of The Bold and the Beautiful, you’re aware that there are times that the soap will periodically get pre-empted. This week, unfortunately, may be one of those times. The end of the year is a special time of year for everyone — and that includes the networks. As such, The Bold and the Beautiful may be one of the shows that are pre-empted this week.

‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ was last pre-empted on February 9

The last time The Bold and the Beautiful was pre-empted was February 9, 2021. At that time, the popular soap opera was pre-empted because the second impeachment trial of Donald Trump was taking place. As such, the soap opera didn’t air a new episode. The Young and the Restless, as well, aired a repeat on that day.

While fans were certainly disappointed, it’s not the first time that a soap opera has ever been pre-empted. Days of Our Lives was pre-empted due to the Olympics, and General Hospital periodically gets pre-empted due to the holidays.

It was not pre-empted on Christmas Eve revealed that the December 24 episode of The Bold and the Beautiful was a brand-new one. And, if you missed the first-run episode when it aired, you can always check it out on the Paramount Plus app.

Fans of the show who loved some high drama got an episode chock full of it on Christmas Eve. On that episode, Ridge hosted a Christmas celebration at his house, where he went on about “family” and delivered a touching speech to that effect.” Hope spent time alone with Deacon for Christmas before joining Liam and the children at Eric’s. Quinn, Brooke, Carter, Zende, Paris, Hope, and Liam gathered around the piano as Eric leads them in singing a traditional Christmas carol. (Let’s go to the videotape!)

New Year’s Eve will be a different story for fans of the show, though.

But it will be pre-empted on New Year’s Eve

Unfortunately, fans of The Bold and the Beautiful will not be able to watch a new episode on December 31. That’s because CBS is covering the Sun Bowl. According to KXLY, there was some question about the Sun Bowl happening because of the COVID-19 protocols in place at the University of Miami. But, ultimately, the competition will take off without a hitch.

“In a press release from the association, it says “The University of Miami remains fully committed to its goal of participating in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl on Friday, Dec. 31 against Washington State while ensuring the continued health and safety of its student-athletes, coaches and staff,” reports the outlet. So, if you’re a football fan, this is definitely the week for you to be in front of your television!

You can catch new episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful on CBS beginning on Monday, January 3, 2022.
