Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway is no stranger to giving ITV viewers updates on how family life at home is going as her husband Derek Draper continues his recovery from coronavirus. After being hospitalised back in March 2020, Derek returned home earlier this year to receive care at home alongside Kate and their children. However, it’s safe to say their home life took a turn earlier this week when flooding hit their home, forcing Kate to call in Derek’s dad for help.

Speaking on Friday’s show after one of Alex Beresford’s weather reports, Kate turned to the weatherman: “My weather week has been…I have lived the weather of the week, Alex.

“Severe flooding and storms on Monday night so woke up on Tuesday morning to find…”

Kate took a moment before explaining: “We live on a hill – so you come in the door at one level and you go down the steps to the back garden – everything underneath completely flooded.”

Surprised and feeling sympathetic to her co-star, Charlotte replied: “Oh, no!”

“Completely flooded,” Kate added before venting: “Total nuisance. Total nightmare.”

Luckily for Kate, she called on Derek’s father to lend a helping hand to come and solve the issue.

She also had the children’s aunt, “Auntie Di”, come over to take care of the issue.

Kate added: “Thanks to Grandad, Derek’s dad, and Auntie Di, we have managed to clear it all out.”
