Love Island bosses ditch strict booze ban for wild camera-free finale afterparty

Love Island viewers will rarely see their reality star favourites bleary-eyed on the show as bosses imposed a strict drinking rule which allows for two drinks per person in the villa.

There are rare occasions which have seen islanders trade their drink off, including Brad McClelland who tried to make up with Faye Winter earlier in the series by offering up his glass of wine, but for the most part you'll rarely see much alcohol on the show.

But it looks like once the cameras stop rolling the producers give the green-light for the islanders to have more than two glasses of drink per night.

Speaking to Daily Star Online, last year's winners Paige Turley and Finley Tapp spilled on what the finale is really like – and revealed they all get an afterparty once the winner is crowned.

Reminiscing on their final last year, Paige said "We had a couple of drinks in the villa and then headed back to the hotel, I think we had wine at the hotel."

Finn added: "Yeah, we said to the producers we need some drink and they were saying, 'No you can't do that!, and we were like, 'Nope we need a bottle of wine we're ordering one on room service.

"In the final we were able to have a few more drinks, once all the cameras were off, but once we got past that initial two or three we wanted to get a bottle."

Paige confessed they weren't all really drunk, but Finn added: "I would've been drunk without any alcohol that night, with all the emotions and stuff!"

The afterparty last year saw the ITV team including host Laura Whitmore and narrator Iain Sterling join the Love Island finalists for their last villa bash before they headed home.

This year, the finalists comprise of Millie and Liam, Chloe and Toby, Kaz and Tyler and Faye and Teddy.

One of the four couples will be voted as Love Island 2021's winner and get the chance to split the £50,000 prize fund.

As the Love Island draws to a close, the real challenge will be the couples heading into the outside world, but can our 2021 finalists make it through the six-month curse?
