Love Island in ‘extreme weather warning’ as temperatures set to soar in Majorca

Love Island is reportedly facing an "extreme weather warning" as temperatures are set to reach point baking at nearly 40 degrees Celsius on the Spanish island of Mallorca.

With this year's highly-anticipated series finally launching on TV screens this evening, it won't be long before contestants could be less bothered about meeting the person of their dreams and simply trying to stay cool instead.

While local residents will be preparing for the heatwave with siestas and staying in the shade, the islanders will be languishing in the villa as temperatures continue to rise.

According to meteorologists, there is a 70 per cent probability that the island will reach an unbearable 40C.

What's more, it could cause issues with filming as the weather is expected to be "10C above average".

While most people on their holidays would opt for dips in the pool and remaining inside glued to the air conditioning, the islanders are drafted into planned dates, and super energetic group challenges while the sun beats down on them.

Spanish weather forecaster Silvia Laplana also commented on what's to come in the region, as she tweeted an image of a weather map.

"The heat will increase throughout the week," she captioned the worryingly-red graphic. "These are above average temperatures for this time of year."

In other parts of Spain, there's even an emergency heat prevention plan in place.

The guide is expected to remain in place until September 15, as the country gears up for yet another searing hot summer, according to The Sun.

Fans can get excited for the drama to instantly kick off in tonight's launch show, as despite a relatively-relaxed coupling up, it doesn't take long for a bombshell to change everything.

In a clip ahead of tonight, presenter Laura Whitmore, who has been criticised for her "boring" presenting by previous islanders Amy Day and Rachel Finni, cheekily introduces latest addition Davide Sanclimenti to the group, and the girls, especially Gemma Owen, 19, are "blown away" by the Italian stallion's gorgeous body and piercing eyes.

"When I saw him, I was very confused because I had no warning but he is very good looking!” Indiyah Polack shared excitedly.

“Straight away I was like, ‘Wow. Fit. Hot. Sexy. Hercules’," dancer Tasha Ghouri added.

Rome-born Davide also told the Beach Hut he was "really impressed" by the ladies in the villa.

"I'm not going to lie," he teased, while outside the rest of the boys were panicking they were set to lose their ladies almost straight away.

Love Island launches tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
