The comedian and host was joined by fellow celebrities such as Laura Whitmore, Mr Motivator and Matt Baker in the special edition of the anarchic BBC game show. Michael received some shocked reactions from the players when he took a swipe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to leave the Royal Family.
In the popular quiz show, players are called upon at random and given a celebrity expert to assist them with certain questions.
At the start of each round, the contestants are asked which guest they want to avoid before the wheel is spun.
Broadcaster and former politician Giles Brandreth was on hand as the latest episode’s Royal expert.
Contestant Jess chose presenter HRVY as the celebrity she wanted to avoid, but not before Michael snuck in a risky jab about Prince Harry.
He began by asking which of his celebrity friends weren’t fans of the royals.
“Prince Harry’s not here, so you’ll have to pick one of these,” he joked.
Jess winced as the celebrities laughed and goaded Michael for his comments.
Defending himself, he exclaimed: “He’s not a fan, is he?”
In January 2020, both Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal duties and moved to Southern California.
Their subsequent interview with Oprah Winfrey following the unprecedented move drew considerable attention and controversy after accusations were made against other, unnamed senior royals.
Back on The Wheel, HRVY admitted Jess had probably made the right decision by lighting him up in red.
“I’m glad you did,” he said. “Because I’ve never watched The Crown or anything.”

“I have no idea. Good decision!”
Michael then joked: “HRVY’s not even aware that The Crown is based on a true story!”
After the wheel was spun, Jess was actually saddled with Mr Motivator to aid her in her first round.
She was asked how Queen Elizabeth II should be addressed upon a first meeting, and both players were a little stumped.
Jess opted with ‘Ma’am’, but Giles informed her the Queen should actually first be referred to as Your Majesty before switching to the slightly less formal address.
One of three contestants, she also competed against Richard and Calvin for a steadily increasing prize pot.
Eventually, Richard managed to go home with a life-changing haul of £24,000.
The Wheel airs Saturdays at 8:30pm on BBC One.
