Iconic sitcom Mrs Brown's Boys will return for a one-off live special this Halloween, to celebrate the comedy's 10th anniversary.
The BBC One comedy, written by and starring Brendan O'Carroll as matriarch Agnes Brown, will focus on some creepy goings on to commemorate the spooky season.
The show actually began its life as a theatre production before going on to become one of the most successful TV shows on the box when it hit the airwaves in 2011.
The show even went on to have its own feature length film in cinemas – and star Brendan O'Carroll is looking forward to seeing its live format return once more.
He quipped: "It's a huge thrill to do another 'live' show for the BBC. It'll be so wonderful to see them nervous all over again!"
But it looks like things are set to be just as chaotic as usual, with the star continuing: "We will be trying our best to stick to the script, but honestly, a script is just a guideline. Ha ha ha! Bring it on!"
BBC Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore added: "I'm thrilled that we are marking the tenth anniversary of the award winning Mrs Brown's Boys coming to BBC One with this very special live broadcast.
"A huge thank you to Brendan and the team for keeping us all so brilliantly entertained for a decade."
She went on: "I can't wait to see what mischief Agnes and family have in store for us this Halloween."
The Irish sitcom had three series in total, with its final series ending in 2013 – but it has regularly broadcast special episodes, with the last airing in December 2020.
According to its iMDB page, the show will also welcome another Christmas special in 2021, returning on December 25th for some festive giggles.
However, some BBC viewers aren’t completely on board with the news – and they insist they have "suffered enough" over the last year.
One cheekily quipped on Twitter: "Just when we thought the world was safe – a Mrs Brown’s Boys Halloween special has been announced!"
Someone else said: "If it wasn’t enough that the smoke alarm started peeping intermittently at 4am to let us know the battery needs changing (why does it always happen in the middle of the night) I now read Mrs Brown’s Boys are returning for a Halloween special. Bad start to a Wednesday".
But many more still were delighted at the announcement – and the show’s popularity speaks for itself, having been voted best sitcom for the 21st century in a RadioTimes poll.
It has also scooped a whopping five National Television Awards over the years.
One ecstatic fan wrote: "Can’t wait!!"
Someone else penned: "So excited!", as a third fan posted: "Can’t wait!! I really hope it has the true spirit of MBB though since the last few Christmas specials haven’t been as good as they used to be…"
