I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! is returning to Wales for an all-new series hosted by iconic Geordie duo Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly. BBC 1Xtra DJ Snoochie Shy is one of the celebrity contestants who will be living in a freezing Welsh castle, living off rations and taking part in bushtucker trails on the ITV show. Ahead of entering the castle, Snoochie revealed she’s been cutting down her calorie intake to prepare herself for the experience.

The 29-year-old, who landed her 1Xtra late-night slot two years ago, has admitted she’s a big “scardey-cat” who reckons she could be so frightened of doing any trials that she may not even let out a scream.

She quipped: “My mum keeps laughing, as she knows I am such a scaredy-cat!

“Bugs and I are not friends, I don’t like heights and I am claustrophobic too. But that all said, one of the things I am most looking forward to about doing this programme is the trials! They are all crazy.”

In the past, celebrity contestants have been faced with swimming with crocodiles, eating fish eyes and being covered in thousands of creepy crawlies.

Snoochie said the one trial she fears the most is anything involving a coffin and bugs.

She added: “I’ve seen bugs go up people’s noses before and I am scared bugs are going to go up my private parts.

“But I am excited about taking part and as soon as they asked me to come on the show, I said yes.”

While she may struggle to cope with her phobias, Snoochie has tried to prepare herself for the meals in camp.

Fans of the ITV show will know campmates are forced to live on a restrictive diet of rice and beans which totals just 700 calories a day.

The more stars campmates win during challenges, the more food the camp has – so Snoochie has braced herself for the worst outcome.

Snoochie said she has already been trying to cut down her calorie intake, but she’s luckily a fan of rice and beans.

She said: “I am weaning myself down on the calories.”

Aside from family, friends and her beloved pet cat, Snoochie is also not sure how she will cope going au naturel in the Castle – especially as it will mean the birthmark on her cheek will be exposed in public for the first time.

“I am a little bit nervous about it,” she admitted.

“People other than my family don’t know I have a birthmark on the right side of my cheek and so it will be the first time I am letting people know I have one.

“It has been an insecurity of mine in the past but I am also excited to face up to it.”

However, she said she is looking forward to her listeners learning more about her.

Snoochie added: “I am actually quite a shy person when I am outside my comfort zone.

“I think my shy side might come out and I might be quite shy in the first couple of days but I also will definitely be a team player.

“I want to show everyone how to twerk too!”

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! lands on ITV on Sunday at 9pm.
